Job Description POSITION DESCRIPTION & EXPECTATIONS Job Title & Position Information Job Title: Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operator Reports To: Project Manager Employment Type: Hourly Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with flexibility as required Compensation: $23.00 - $26.00 Benefits Paid Time Off (PTO) PTO is accrued every pay period and increases with your tenure at the company. If you are a problem solver, tech-savvy, proactive, and thrive in dynamic environments, you will fit right in About the Position The Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining HDD equipment to install underground utilities such as conduit, fiber, water, gas, or electrical lines per project specifications. This position requires a strong understanding of drilling techniques, equipment operation, safety standards, and job-site coordination. Key Responsibilities * • Operate horizontal directional drilling equipment safely and efficiently to complete bore paths according to plans and specifications, • Set up, align, and monitor drill rigs, tooling, and support equipment, • Read and interpret bore profiles, utility locates, and construction drawings, • Monitor drilling fluid systems and maintain proper drilling conditions, • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on HDD equipment, • Accurately track bore depth, pitch, and direction while adjusting as needed, • Communicate effectively with locators, spotters, supervisors, and crew members, • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and job-site requirements, • Assist with job-site preparation, cleanup, and restoration as needed Qualifications * • Proven experience operating horizontal directional drilling equipment, • Knowledge of underground utility installation and locating procedures, • Ability to read and understand construction plans and bore paths, • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred, if applicable), • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift heavy materials Certifications * • HDD Operator certification or related industry certification preferred, • OSHA 10/30 or other safety certifications preferred Core Values * • Accountability – takes ownership of deliverables and communicates truthfully., • Character – professional conduct and reliability., • Integrity – honest reporting and ethical behavior., • Safety – follows all safety requirements., • Teamwork – collaborates and supports the estimating team., • Trustworthy – consistent follow‐through and transparent communication. May require extended time outdoors and travel to job sites Performance Review & Continuation of Engagement This consulting engagement is performance‐based. Continuation of work, expansion of responsibilities, compensation changes, and any future discretionary immigration support (including work visa sponsorship) are contingent upon sustained performance, measurable deliverables, and business needs.
