Job Description Under general supervision, the Custodian performs a wide variety of cleaning, maintenance, and setup duties to ensure university buildings, classrooms, restrooms, offices, residence halls, and event spaces are clean, safe, sanitary, and well-maintained. Responsibilities include routine custodial work, special project cleaning, minor maintenance, and event support. This role ensures a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces in classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas., • Empty and sanitize trash and recycling bins., • Maintain and restock supplies in restrooms and other facilities., • Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces., • Respond to special cleaning requests and emergencies as needed., • Operate and maintain custodial equipment effectively and safely., • Report maintenance issues or hazards to the supervisor promptly., • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure working environment., • Assist with setup and take down for university events as required., • Collaborate with the custodial team to support overall operations and special projects., • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to improve skills and knowledge. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent., • Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred., • Ability to work independently and as part of a team., • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills., • Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions., • Physical ability to perform tasks that include lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods., • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
