Job Description G & S Remodeling Services Preconstruction Assistant Location: Plano, TX (Serving a 30-mile radius north of Dallas) Built on Integrity. Driven by Craft. G & S Remodeling Services is a design-build residential remodeling firm serving the north Dallas suburbs for over 20 years. Based in Plano, Texas, we specialize in single-family remodels that balance design intent, constructability, disciplined project planning, and an exceptional client experience. With approximately $1.5M in annual revenue and a lean, high-performing team, we are growing strategically and expanding our Preconstruction department to support continued growth. The Preconstruction Assistant supports projects from initial lead through design development, estimating, procurement, and handoff to production. This role works closely with Sales, Design, Estimating, and Production to ensure projects are organized, accurately documented, and progressing efficiently within JobTread and internal workflows. This is a dynamic position that includes both office and light field responsibilities. It is ideal for someone early in their career in construction, architecture, or interior design who wants hands-on exposure to how residential remodeling projects are planned, priced, and coordinated. Key Responsibilities • Assist with preparing early selection lists in collaboration with the Design team, • Organize selections, spec sheets, and supporting design documents within JobTread, • Support basic takeoffs and measurement tasks as skills develop, • Request, track, and organize vendor and subcontractor quotes, • Maintain clean, organized estimating documentation throughout preconstruction, • Assist with scope documentation and cost input coordination, • Coordinate finish and installation material orders in collaboration with Design team, • Prepare and track purchase orders and material requests within JobTread, • Monitor orders from purchase through delivery to the jobsite, • Proactively communicate order status, lead times, and delivery updates, • Flag potential delays or discrepancies and assist in resolving issues, • Maintain accurate documentation of confirmations and delivery records, • Photograph and document existing conditions and construction progress, • Upload and organize photos, notes, and documentation in JobTread, • Assist with light field-related tasks or material pickups as needed, • Ensure jobsite documentation aligns with company brand standards and client privacy expectations, • Capture and organize high-quality jobsite photos for marketing use, • Coordinate with Designers and Project Managers on timing and focus of photography, • Properly label and store images for internal and external use, • Attend client meetings as needed and take structured, organized notes, • Prepare meeting summaries, follow-ups, and action items, • Maintain preconstruction schedules, tasks, and deadlines within JobTread, • Support coordination between Sales, Design, and Production teams, • Assist in preparing design and construction contracts, • Review documents for accuracy and completeness, • Support permit submissions, version control, and document uploads Qualifications • Bachelor's degree or relevant education/experience in construction, architecture, interior design, engineering, or related field preferred but not required, • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, • Comfortable with numbers, measurements, and learning takeoffs, • Tech-savvy; comfortable using JobTread, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office (preferred but not required), • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills, • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, • Comfortable in both office and active jobsite environments, • Demonstrated character traits of honesty, professionalism, and kindness (cultural fit is non-negotiable) Pay and Benefits • Full-time, W-2 Employment, • Competitive compensation based on experience, • Training and mentorship in preconstruction, estimating, procurement, and design-build workflows, • Clear growth path into Estimating, Design, or Project Management roles, • Exposure to a wide range of residential remodeling projects, • Collaborative, team-oriented environment, • Long-term career development opportunities within G & S Remodeling Why G & S Remodeling Services • 20+ years of established residential remodeling expertise, • Design-build model with full project lifecycle involvement, • Clear organizational growth plan with defined future roles, • Direct access to company leadership in a small, accountable team, • Values-driven culture emphasizing integrity, professionalism, and respect G & S Remodeling Services is an equal opportunity employer.
