Job Description Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports, they need to thrive. We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach almost 80,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today. CAMBA operates 6 single adult shelters and 6 family shelters and one drop in center. Each shelter offers clients a supportive, structured therapeutic, safe, and drug-free facility. Homeless (often mentally-ill and substance-abusing) men and women are provided with comprehensive services to stabilize their condition in order to successfully transition into to permanent and/or supported housing. CAMBA’s Rising Up Men’s Shelter is a 141 bed men’s employment shelter located in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. This shelter will provide an array of services with a strong focus on connections for residents to achieve stable employment to lead to permanent housing. Position: PT Residential Aide Reports To: Shift Supervisor Location: 39 Ainslie Street, Brooklyn, NY, 11211 What The PT Residential Aide Does: • Update and inform clients of program changes (i.e., food services changes, laundry assignments, etc.) through individual and group meetings., • Assist with client bed-check every evening., • Conduct dorm inspection to ensure client compliance with facility policies., • Intervene and diffuse inappropriate client interaction, as necessary., • Monitor clients’ behavior and report client changes in behavior or personal care to Supervisor and/or appropriate social services staff., • Ensure that clients receive personal care products and laundry products weekly, and replace any personal care items as needed., • Sort, count, and bag bed linens, blankets, and towels (may wash, dry and fold)., • Distribute clean bed linens, blankets, pillows, and towels to clients., • Monitor clients' use of laundry facilities, including running new client’s belongings through the dryer., • Strip former clients' beds and lockers, sort, bag, label and document belongings, carry bags to storage area, and store bags for safekeeping., • Identify, sort, bag, label and document valuable client belongings (i.e., electronics, cash, documents, etc.) and give to Supervisor for storage., • Follow client belongings policy and retrieve personal property of former clients upon their return., • Escort clients, as needed., • Check food deliveries for quality and quantity of items and report any issues to Supervisor., • Prepare kitchen and dining facilities for mealtimes and clean up after each meal., • Heat and serve prepared foods according to Food Standards Policy (i.e., follow menu, set portion sizes, food service hygiene, check temperature of meals, etc.), • Store food according to the Food Storage Policy (i.e., check temperature of refrigerators, rotate food, etc.), • Prepare paper goods, setups and condiments for mealtimes., • Set up coffee and hot water urns before each meal., • May collect garbage in bags and remove to appropriate storage location., • May prepare and serve lunch., • High school diploma or HSE and/or equivalent experience.Other Requirements:, • Bi-lingual preferred., • Participate in Department of Health Food Protection 15 hour Course, pass exam and become a certified Food Handler., • Must obtain Annual PPD Test., • May be required to become First Aid/CPR certified., • May be required to become certified in overdose prevention. Looking for an experienced office support professional to join its Team as an Office Assistant for a Temporary to Possible Permanent assignment. In this role, you will be responsible for providing support in the following areas: Office Services, Reception, and Administrative Services. The role will take directions from the Senior Office Services Coordinator and Director, Human Resources, and will provide coverage for the responsibilities listed below. This role requires an in-person presence Five (5) Days per Week working a daily schedule from 8:45am to 5:45pm, with some variation on occasion to support office needs. The office is in mid-town Manhattan and closed between Christmas and New Year’s. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Reception • Provide back-up and break coverage for Receptionist including:, • Greet staff and visitors in a pleasant and friendly manner., • Monitor the visitors’ log throughout the day to ensure that all scheduled guests are greeted at the front desk with courtesy and professionalism., • Offer to assist visitors with hanging coats and storing umbrellas, large bags or other items., • Notify Executive Assistant and/or host of visitor’s arrival., • Answer the main telephone line with professionalism and direct calls to the appropriate staff., • Manage and maintain cleanliness of the main reception area., • If requested, enter visitor information into building visitor log for upcoming visits., • Follow practices included in the reception desk manual and related standard operating procedures., • In partnership with Manager, Facilities and Office Services and Receptionist, coordinate review and approval of Certificates of Insurance (COIs) by building management, submit building tickets and reserve service elevator as directed., • Be open and available to provide reception and administrative support at office events during and after hours., • Notify Recruiting and HR Coordinator of employment candidate’s arrival., • Work in cooperation with Receptionist to ensure the reception desk is covered during breaks., • Ensure that ample supplies of snacks and beverages are stocked in pantry and storage areas., • Keep pantry and café tidy and organized and perform spot cleaning throughout the day., • Brew coffee, operate coffee machines and maintain hot water kettle throughout the day as required., • Follow building recycling program ensuring compliance with local regulations., • Clear sinks and load, run and unload dishwashers throughout the day., • Monitor trash and arrange for porter service or empty as necessary., • Restock pantry and office supplies and maintain common areas (e.g. Central Café, storage areas, pantry, terraces)., • Maintain and tidy conference rooms after use., • Team player collaborating with administrative, Facilities and Office Services staff and building staff as needed.
