POSITION: Transportation - Light Duty Mechanic LOCATION: Uinta County School District Number One Evanston WY Transportation SALARY: S2; 7-14; $21.50 per hour HOURS: 8 Hours per day; Monday thru Friday; 12 months CLOSING DATE: Uinta County School District Number One reserves the right to hire the most qualified candidate at any time. POSITION GOALS: To assist the Transportation Department in maintaining the highest level of safe and dependable transportation possible. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent, • Valid License with ability to obtain a CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, • Three (3) years experience in vehicle maintenance and repair preferred, • Experience in purchasing safety and inventory control preferred Legal Requirements:, • Possess or be able to obtain a current Wyoming Class B Commercial Drivers License withEndorsements for Air Brake Passenger and School Bus., • Able to meet or exceed requirements for a D.O.T. physical, • Able to pass a Background Check, • Must adhere to the Uinta County School District #1 and DOT Alcohol and Controlled Substances testing policy. Performance Responsibilities:, • Responsible for helping with the maintenance and record-keeping for the Underground Fuel Storage tanks, • Responsible for managing inventory for the bus garage. This includes pricing and purchasing, • Responsible for the evaluation of larger repairs to determine if this can be done on sight or need to be outsourced, • Responsible for properly handling and disposing of supplies and parts used in the day-to-day operation of the transportation system Personnel Support:, • Responsible for supporting bus drivers when sub drivers are needed, • Responsible for attending trainings and conferences with drivers keeping updated and informed on all safety procedures industry changes and other relevant information related to driving a school bus, • Responsible for supporting drivers during bad weather incidents Knowledge Skills and Abilities, • Knowledge of methods materials tools and equipment necessary for the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty diesel and gasoline-powered equipment, • Knowledge of provisions of the Wyoming Motor Vehicle Code applicable to the operation of vehicles in transporting students, • Knowledge of hand power and diagnostic tools and equipment, • Knowledge of applicable laws rules codes and guidelines pertaining to maintenance operations, • Knowledge of all safety precautions applicable to the trade, • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices, • Skilled active listener, • Skilled at asking questions and understanding multiple points of view, • Skilled communicator that can convey information clearly and effectively orally and written, • Ability to diagnose mechanical defects and repair and adjust motors and equipment, • Ability to use the tools and equipment needed in the repair and maintenance of diesel and gasoline-powered equipment, • Ability to read and prepare schematics and diagrams, • Ability to estimate costs of mechanical repairs, • Ability to analyze ideas and use logic to determine their strengths and weaknesses, • Ability to use reasoning to discover answers to problems, • Ability to combine several pieces of information and draw conclusions, • Ability to think of original unusual or creative ways to solve problems, • Ability to be aware of others reactions and understand the possible causes Physical Requirements:, • Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to communicate with others. The employee is required to sit or stand and move around for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to push pull lift and carry over 25 pounds on occasion., • Working Conditions The employee in this position may experience occasional exposure to blood bodily fluids and tissue. The employee may also be required to interact with unruly children. The employee may be required to work in cold or hot conditions such as snow rain wind and sunshine.
