Job Description Alternatives Case Manager Specialist Vera House, Inc. is a human service agency that provides unconditional care for individuals and families through comprehensive domestic and sexual violence prevention and intervention services. POSITION SUMMARY: In this full-time role, Alternatives Case Manager Specialist will be responsible for co-facilitation of weekly education classes for men or women who have demonstrated abusive behaviors toward their partners to educate and help correct violence in our community. This 15-class prevention program runs concurrently and includes group education for both participants who are attending voluntarily or completing a mandated court-ordered program. The Alternatives Facilitator will serve as a liaison and build positive working relationships with community members, clients, and partnering agencies. Additionally, the Alternatives Case Manager Specialist will be responsible for providing case management services to participants by offering individualized support, connecting them to community resources, and assisting with referrals as needed to address personal barriers (e.g., housing, employment, substance use, or mental health services). The facilitator will confront and support men and women to positively influence and help change their abusive behaviors and attitudes. This position includes evening hours. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Facilitate weekly curriculum-based education classes for men or women who have abused their partners., • Maintain detailed case notes and documentation for each participant, ensuring accurate record-keeping that complies with agency policies., • Provide case management services to participants, including assessing individual needs, making appropriate referrals to community resources, and following up on participants’ engagement with services., • Build and maintain relationships with community agencies to support participants’ access to needed resources (e.g., housing, job training, counseling)., • Present pre-written materials to small groups including PowerPoint presentations, handouts, and demonstrations., • Maintain attendance records, reach out to unexcused participants by phone, and demonstrate accountability for satisfactorily completing the intended programs., • Maintain strong professional boundaries, limited to the extent of professional relationships, ensuring compliance, ethical and appropriate interactions. EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s degree in human service or criminal justice preferred or combination of experience., • Strong training, organization, and verbal communication skills, along with group facilitation experience and experience in case management services., • Experience in any of the following areas: working with reintegration programs, working with adults from diverse backgrounds, incarcerated populations, reentry programs, and at-risk populations., • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite., • Completion of a satisfactory background check., • Ability to provide trauma informed services and knowledge of crisis intervention techniques., • Thorough knowledge of domestic and sexual violence and domestic violence including elder abuse., • Ability to adapt to demanding situations, working well under pressure., • Adapt effectively in a crisis orientated setting with diverse individuals. On an as needed basis, they may work closely with leadership to assist with specialty maintenance/repairs and projects. Job Description We are currently seeking a Program Manager for our growing Ecological Construction & Restoration Program in New York State. The successful candidate must have experience managing ecological construction projects such as wetland construction/rehabilitation, stream and shoreline restoration, invasive species control, habitat creation/restoration, native planting and seeding, and green infrastructure projects. This is an opportunity to take a fledgling program and expand it in scope and geography to assist our partners in building hazard resiliency and aid in environmental restoration and conservation. This position may be based out of our Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, or Ballston Spa offices. Duties • Oversee ecological construction operations throughout the Northeastern US with current focus in New York State., • Estimating and proposal preparation., • Business development activities including but not limited to attending conferences, networking events and other tasks designed to grow this business sector., • Project management, including tracking project budgets, client interaction, scheduling staff and equipment, reviewing deliverables, interacting with agency representatives, etc., • Supervision and mentoring of junior staff., • Establishing and maintaining relationships with public agencies, regulators, private developers, consulting and engineering firms and non-profits to further business development goals., • A Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, natural resources, ecology, geography or related field., • Experience: 12-20 years of experience with a minimum of 10 years progressive experience in the industry., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • Well versed in relevant NY State and Federal regulations., • Experience leading and mentoring junior staff., • Demonstrated ability to pursue, establish and maintain client business relationships.
