We specialize in steel-frame modular projects for the hospitality, high-density residential, and resource sectors. Our state-of-the-art factory in Zhangjigang operates at the highest level of quality, building to precise North American safety and quality standards. We are a dynamic, project-based company that is redefining how the world builds. We are seeking an experiencedCalifornia-Certified HVAC Technician to provide supplemental training, quality oversight, and process optimization. The successful candidate will spend up to 8 weeks on-site at our factory in China to ensure our housing modules meet the highest North American HVAC standards for quality, durability, and compliance.This is a temporary, high-impact consulting role requiring deep expertise in construction best practices, particularly within a controlled factory environment. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for a comprehensive review and improvement of all Mechanical (HVAC) Systems processes, including: 1. Design & Material Review • Review and Validate: Critically examine current HVAC system designs, duct/line routing, connections, and equipment installations to ensure compliance with relevant US/California Mechanical Codes (e.g., CMC, UMC, Title 24) and best practices for modular construction., • Material Selection & In-house Testing: Evaluate and recommend optimal HVAC materials (e.g., ductwork, refrigerants, line sets), connections, and equipment systems (e.g., split systems, VRF) readily available in the local market, suitable for export, and meeting high-quality and performance standards. Establishing in-house protocols for system mock-ups, pressure testing, air balancing, and documenting test results will be an essential aspect of the role. 2. Process Optimization & Training • Process Mapping: Review and revise the current workflow for equipment setting, refrigerant line set connection, ductwork installation, and testing within the modular production line., • Best Practices Training: Review and improve upon the existing training program. Deliver hands-on, practical training to factory staff on North American HVAC installation and connection techniques to ensure proper airflow, system efficiency, and guarantee code compliance., • Tooling & Equipment: Evaluate existing tools and equipment (e.g., refrigerant recovery/charging equipment, vacuum pumps, manifold gauges, leak detectors, air balancing tools, and diagnostic equipment) and recommend upgrades, additions, or modifications to improve process efficiency and consistency. 3. Quality Assurance & Standards Development • Quality Control (QC) Program: Review and enhance the current QC inspection points, criteria (including equipment setting, line set brazing/swaging, pressure/leak testing, air balancing, and final connection checks), and documentation processes for HVAC systems., • Defect Root Cause Analysis: Identify and troubleshoot common defects (e.g., refrigerant leaks, incorrect airflow, improper venting, equipment defects, and electrical issues) and develop preventative measures., • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop clear, visual, and concise SOPs for all critical steps in the HVAC installation and testing processes. Qualifications • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in high-quality commercial or residential HVAC installation, with specific experience ensuring compliance with California Mechanical/HVAC Codes and inspection requirements. Experience as a working foreman and/or trade superintendent is considered an asset., • Technical Expertise:, • Deep knowledge of various HVAC systems, including split systems, VRF/VRV, ductwork, and ventilation systems., • Expertise in refrigerant handling, pressure/leak testing, air balancing, and equipment specification/installation., • Comprehensive understanding of material compatibility, thermal expansion considerations, and seismic restraints., • Modular/Factory Experience (Preferred): Experience working on modular, prefabricated, or production-line construction projects is a significant asset., • Training & Communication: Proven ability to effectively train, mentor, and communicate technical information to diverse, non-native English-speaking teams. Not to worry, our team is diverse and has extensive experience working with North American consultants and tradespersons., • Travel: Must be willing and able to travel and reside in China for the duration of the 6-8 week assignment. Compensation and Logistics • Duration: Up to 8 weeks on-site, with potential for follow-up remote consultation., • Compensation: Competitive consulting fee commensurate with experience and expertise., • Logistics: All travel, visa, accommodations, and per diem expenses will be covered by the manufacturer.
