Overall Purpose: The CNC Lathe Machine Operator plays a crucial role in our operations by producing machined parts through setting up, and operating a CNC lathe machine. The operator is responsible for maintaining safety and quality standards, documenting procedures, and ensuring equipment and supplies are properly maintained to support the achievement of Masterbilt’s business goals and objectives. Requirements: Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes: • Plan Machining Processes: Study work orders, part blueprints, materials, specifications, engineering plans, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)., • Set Up Lathes: Install and adjust chucks, tools, attachments, collets, and indicating vices., • Maintain Specifications: Observe operations, take measurements, detect malfunctions, troubleshoot processes, adjust and reprogram controls, sharpen and replace worn tools, and adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes., • Ensure Safe Operations: Adhere to safety procedures and regulations., • Maintain Equipment: Complete preventive maintenance requirements; follow manufacturer's instructions; troubleshoot malfunctions; call for repairs., • Document Actions: Complete production and quality logs., • Update Job Knowledge: Participate in educational opportunities; read technical publications., • Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, electronic devices, photocopiers, filing systems/cabinets, and fax machines., • Regular exposure to office and manufacturing environments with moderate noise levels., • Occasional requirement to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while visiting manufacturing departments., • Education: High school diploma or equivalent., • Experience: Minimum 2 years in manufacturing and CNC machining a MUST, • Functional Skills:, • Strong attention to detail, • Fundamental knowledge of CNC machining/manufacturing machining principles, • Familiarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints, • Strong mechanical aptitude, • Fundamental knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques, • Ability to work independently and closely follow directions, • Technology Aptitude/Skills: Proficient with CNC Lathe machines., • Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to create/write work instructions and train others., • Leadership/Behaviors: Solid collaboration skills, openness to new ideas, positive attitude, flexibility, and adaptability., • Ability to stand for up to 6-8 hours in one session., • Ability to sit at a desk for 2+ hours per day., • Ability to operate the keyboard and view computer screen as needed throughout the day., • Ability to write ideas/information in a logical flow as needed throughout the day., • Ability to read and respond on an ongoing basis daily due to the nature of the work, throughout the day., • Ability to communicate with others via phone, in-person, and computer on an ongoing basis., • Ability to listen to customers, employees, and peers, problem-solve, and respond accordingly., • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently., • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, squat, twist, push, pull, and carry items frequently.
