The Receiver is responsible for efficiently and accurately receiving, inspecting, and storing all incoming shipments of meat, fish, produce, dry goods, and operating supplies. This role is essential in maintaining accurate inventory, ensuring product quality, and supporting the daily operations of Great Performances. The Receiver must demonstrate strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to food safety and sanitation standards. Key Responsibilities • Verify all deliveries against purchase orders and invoices to ensure accuracy in quantity, product type, and condition., • Visually inspect fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, and other perishable items to ensure quality standards are met., • Report and document any discrepancies, damages, or shortages immediately to the Purchasing Manager., • Pack, unpack, label, and organize incoming shipments in designated storage areas (dry storage, coolers, freezers, stockrooms)., • Rotate stock according to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) guidelines to minimize waste and maintain freshness., • Maintain accurate records of inventory received and assist with periodic cycle counts or physical inventories., • Keep receiving and storage areas clean, organized, and compliant with Board of Health and OSHA standards., • Dispose of shipping materials (boxes, pallets, packaging) safely and responsibly., • Follow proper food safety handling, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures at all times., • Assist in transporting products and supplies to various commissary kitchen stations as needed., • Collaborate with Purchasing, Culinary, and Operations teams to ensure smooth workflow., • Minimum of 1 year of experience in receiving, stock, or warehouse operations; food service receiving experience strongly preferred., • Knowledge of Department of Health regulations and proper storage/handling of perishable and non-perishable food products., • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in inventory and quality control., • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, vendors, and internal team members., • Able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and compliance with procedures., • Proficiency with basic record-keeping and familiarity with inventory or receiving software is a plus., • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift for the duration of the shift., • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
