American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 03/16/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Mar 16, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Acute care hospital setting on a mixed PCU, Oncology, and Med/Surg unit, • 28-bed unit serving adult oncology and trauma PCU patient populations, • Day shift ratios: 1:4 (PCU) and 1:5 (Med/Surg); Night shift ratios: 1:5–6 patients, • Common drips include chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, and protonix; RNs may be required to titrate insulin and cardizem drips, • Hemodynamic monitoring equipment in use, including CVP, A-line, Swan, and EV-1000; ventilator management also performed, • Alaris IV pumps used on the unit, • Charting via Epic (recent Epic experience within 6 months is noted during orientation planning, but is not a hard requirement), • 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a), • Every other weekend required, • Floating required to same level of care (Med/Surg and PCU units), • 13-week contractRequirements, • Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted, • Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIHSS — pending certifications not accepted, • ONS/ONCC certification required, • Minimum 1 year of PCU and oncology nursing experience required, • Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required, • Valid driver's license required for consideration (used to verify permanent address), • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire, • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (permanent address verified via driver's license), • Candidates may not have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year (candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered)Additional Information, • Unit is supported by nursing assistants, a charge nurse, PT/OT, RN case manager, social worker, educator, and dietician, • Orientation consists of 2 days (approximately 12 hours); includes a pass/fail open-book exam on the final day of orientation — a score of 90% or higher is required to pass, • Competencies in ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000, ICP) can be trained in real time during orientation, • Navy blue scrubs required, • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove artificial nails will result to contract termination, • RTO must be disclosed upfront; 7 or fewer days of RTO per 13-week contract; no additional RTO will be approved after consideration, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
