Details • 53-bed NICU unit with an average patient census of 58, located within a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital, • High-acuity, fast-paced neonatal environment caring for a wide range of complex diagnoses including respiratory (RDS, TTN, MAS, BPD), cardiac (TOF, VSD, HLHS, PPHN), neurological (seizures, IVH, HIE), and GI/GU/systemic conditions (NEC, NAS, sepsis, congenital anomalies), • Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3, • 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM (badge in 6:45 AM), 36 hours per week; night shift hours are 6:45 PM–7:15 AM, • Schedule is assigned every 6 weeks based on unit needs; travelers are scheduled after the core team, • Weekend rotation requires 2 Fridays, 2 Mondays, and every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) within each 6-week scheduling period, • Holiday coverage is required; travelers are expected to work the day of, the eve, and/or the day after every other holiday while under contract, • No on-call requirements for travelers; if the NICU cannot utilize a traveler, they may be floated to similar units, • Floating may occur to Neonatal PCU, General Peds, Pediatric CVICU, or PICU as a helping hand unless the traveler has prior qualifying experience in those areas, • EMR is Epic; experience is required, • IV pumps include Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps; medication dispensing via Omnicell; monitoring via PhilipsRequirements, • Active NC or compact RN license required, • Current BLS and NRP certifications required, • Minimum 2 years of Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year, • Must be comfortable in a high-acuity, fast-paced NICU environment, • Epic EMR experience required, • Required skills include: vasoactive drip titration, invasive line management (arterial lines, CVP), ventilator and trach management, chest tube management, CRRT experience, oral/nasal suctioning, g-tube/j-tube and feeding tube management, epidural and PCA management, sedation and analgesic drip management, Foley insertion and management, aseptic and sterile technique, basic dressing changes, EVDs, Camino device (ICP and temperature monitoring), HOFV management, Alaris and Medfusion pump management, and bedside procedure support, • Experience with the baby side of ECMO preferred; manager has shown flexibility on EVD, ICP, ECMO, and CRRT experience, • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration, • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RNAdditional Information, • Robust unit support includes a unit secretary every shift, 24/7 charge nurse, 24/7 IV/VAT/PCVC team, resource nurse, 24/7 RT, 24/7 intensivist, in-house residents and APPs, centralized and bedside telemetry monitoring, unit-based educators (AM and PM), and 6 clinical supervisors, • Orientation consists of 2 days of departmental onboarding (NEO program), • First-time travelers may be considered with manager approval, depending on current staffing levels, • Candidates must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted, • Former employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated from a permanent position for at least 1 year before being considered, • RTO requests require manager approval; travelers with significant RTO needs may be required to extend their contract to accommodate those requests, • Scrub color is navy; long-sleeve shirts are permitted but must be solid navy or white; scrubs must not be tight and pediatric-friendly scrub tops are preferred, • Organizational branded attire from other facilities is not permitted, • "Bare Below Elbow" policy is enforced in nurseries — no watches, jewelry (including rings), or artificial nails are allowed, • Unit culture emphasizes teamwork, trust, accountability, respect, and flexibility American Traveler Job ID #P-705013.
