Job Description OVERVIEW The Guest Services Manager serves the Wesley Woods Camp and Retreat Center by carrying out its Mission as a member of the Program Ministry Team at our Indianola, Iowa location. The ideal candidate will be motivated to provide exceptional customer service and be willing to recruit and book retreat groups in the shoulder seasons and provide support to summer staff in the camp season. This position is full time with semi-flexible hours but will include some weekends and minor travel from time to time. This position reports directly to the Wesley Woods Site Director. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Align, Support and Mainitain adherence to all ACA standards in all aspects of camping ministry at Wesley Woods., • Align, Support and embrace the 7 Foundations of United Methodist Camp & Retreat Ministry., • Supervise, direct, and walk alongside Guest Services Staff., • Develop, lead, supervise, promote, and evaluate our Guest Group Ministry and Summer Camp Programs., • Serve as initial contact including recruitment, booking, scheduling and processing intake forms for retreat/guest groups., • Coordinate Guest Group program requests and schedule Program Team members for hosting and facilitation., • Coordinate food service requests and needs with the Food Services staff., • Host and Facilitate: Serve as a guest group host and program facilitator providing exemplary customer service., • Attend and assist in the delivery of all Wesley Woods program events., • Assist and perform facility cleaning and preparation as needed., • Perform office duties as assigned, which may include bill processing, answering phones and assisting summer staff needs. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Minimum age: 25 years old (ACA Requirement)., • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent job experience., • At least three years of job-related or applicable experience., • Dedicated Christian with a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and willing to share their faith in Christ with others., • Ability to lead others in group activities (devotional and recreational)., • Desire and ability to work outdoors with children, youth, families, and adults., • Physical Demands: High physical engagement with youth and adults., • Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Previous experience as a summer staff member of an outdoor ministry site., • Proficiency in Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)., • Certifications in Group Facilitation, Lifeguarding Instructor, CPR, and First Aid preferred., • Teachable spirit, self-motivated to learn new processes., • Creativity in scheduling programs, facilities, and staff., • Demonstrates a servant’s heart with integrity, joy, enthusiasm, initiative, self-control, willingness to learn, a sense of spiritual direction, and the presence of God in their life. SALARY AND BENEFITS Proportionate with position, education, and experience as per the Personnel Manual and salary structure of the Iowa Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. IAUMC offers Health, Dental, Retirement Plan, and Generous Time Off. · Benefits: Health, Dental, Retirement Plan, and Generous Time Off SPECIFIC MINISTRY DESCRIPTION BREAKDOWN Guest Group Retreat Ministry Responsibilities (50%) • Create, develop, and organize an intentional and Christ-focused camp experience for youth, adults, and volunteers., • Serve as initial guest group contact and process group intake forms., • Schedule and coordinate Program Team members for hosting guest groups., • Communicate all allergy/dietary needs and meal requests with the Food Service Manager., • Secure weekend programming assistants as needed., • Serve as a guest group host and program facilitator as needed., • Assist Program Team in set up and clean-up of guest groups or program groups as needed., • Prepare, present, and operate within the annual budget. Hosted Retreat Ministry (15%) • Create, develop, and organize an intentional and Christ-focused camp experience for hosted retreats including Couples Camp, Men’s Retreat, Women’s Retreat, Clergy Retreats and others., • Serve as initial guest group contact and process group intake forms., • Schedule and coordinate Program Team members for hosting retreat groups., • Communicate all allergy/dietary needs and meal requests with the Food Services Manager., • Manage all aspects of the events, including marketing, registration, scheduling, on-site coordination, working closely with the Program Team., • Assess retreat outcomes, gather participant feedback and recommend improvements to enhance future retreat offerings., • Prepare, present, and operate within the annual budget. Summer Camp Ministry Responsibilities (10%) • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where campers can grow spiritually, socially, and emotionally., • Collaborate with the Summer Camp Manager to promote Wesley Woods through various channels., • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, maintaining staff-to-camper ratios, and adhering to relevant regulations., • Aid in summer camp promotion through church visits and supporting schools., • Evaluate ministry programs and recommend improvements to the Wesley Woods Site Director, • Assist in coordinating transportation, check-in/check-out procedures, and communication with parents/guardians. Fund and Community Development (10%) • Advance fundraising goals and initiatives through collaboration and strategic engagement., • Identify, recruit, and coordinate volunteers for fundraising campaigns., • Cultivate relationships with current donors and seek out potential donors., • Serve as a positive and inspirational ambassador for Camp Wesley Woods within the community., • Participate in training and professional development to improve donor relations and fundraising strategies. Leadership Development (5%) • Assist in developing and delivering a high-quality hospitality training program for Guest Services Staff., • Assist in recruiting and interviewing Wesley Woods Leaders. Maintenance and Laundry (5%) • Assist in facility and laundry cleaning as needed and available., • Assist in facility maintenance as needed and available. Other Responsibilities (5%) • Champion our Mission and Core Values to the Program Team and other team members., • Partner with the Wesley Woods Site Director to implement a strategic communication plan., • Attend approved professional training seminars and conferences., • Attend required staff meetings and devotions., • Evaluate current operating procedures and make recommendations as they arise.
