Job Description Job Title: Play, Do, Learn Lead Teacher Reports To: PDL Preschool Manager Department: Children’s Services Job Purposes (or description): The Lead Teacher is responsible for implementing classroom activities, providing a safe learning environment and maintaining classroom routine. This individual must display a love for teaching and nurturing young children. Duties and Responsibilities: Plans and implements daily activities (utilizing curriculum) in the areas of cognitive, speech and language, fine motor, gross motor, self-help, social emotional and behavior management Participates in the documentation of the child’s skills in relation to the IFSP goals Maintains a safe, clean, sanitary environment Completes all documentation and complies with all policies and procedures of TEIS, SRVS and SRVS Kids Trains, supervises and encourages PDL Teaching Assistants Delegates responsibilities to PDL Teaching Assistants Communicates effectively and empathetically with parents and caregivers Provide a positive, nurturing environment for all children Attend All-Staff and PD&L meetings and works cooperatively with all team members Serves as an advocate for SRVS Kids and our families Perform other duties as assigned 1. Effective Communication: Ability to clearly and respectfully communicate with residents, families, staff, and external agencies. Demonstrates active listening and ensures transparency in all interactions. 2. Ethical Practice: Upholds confidentiality, integrity, and ethical standards in all interactions and decisions, ensuring the rights and dignity of residents are prioritized. 3. Leadership and Accountability: Provides clear direction to staff, models positive behaviors, and takes responsibility for the success of the residential program. Holds self and team members accountable for meeting expectations and standards. 4. Collaboration: Works collaboratively with other professionals, families, and community partners to ensure quality care and services are provided to residents. 5. Cultural Humility: Demonstrates respect for and understanding of the diverse backgrounds, needs, and perspectives of residents, staff, and families, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. 6. Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution: Approaches challenges with a solution-focused mindset, resolving issues in a fair and timely manner, while maintaining professionalism and promoting a positive atmosphere. 7. Adherence to Policies and Procedures: Ensures compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards, maintaining a safe, respectful, and efficient residential environment. Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Early Intervention, Deaf Education/Visual Studies, Speech/Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or a related field. Degrees in related fields such as social work, nursing, psychology, education administration, or sociology are also accepted. Candidates with a related field degree must have: • At least one year of experience working with children ages 0-5 with disabilities and their families, • Knowledge of early childhood development, • An understanding of developmental milestones, • A minimum of one year of experience caring for one or more young children A Bachelor's degree is required (No exceptions). Job Competencies: • Basic computer and internet literacy with the ability to utilize applications like emails, time recording and other programs to enter and retrieve data as necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. • Valid driver's license, • Prior experience in the human services field, preferred. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Network Functions: • Maintain and abides by OSHA requirements and guidelines, • Observes all Fire and Safety Policies and Procedures, • Observes all Fiscal/Office/HR Personnel Policies and Procedures, • Observes all HIPAA Policies and Procedures and maintains confidentiality, • Attends all required and scheduled trainings and meetings, • Always maintain a professional demeanor and exercise good judgement in all areas of employment duties Equipment/Machines: VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS • Current driver's license, driver registration and a functional vehicle EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS • Telephone: Cellular - Multi-line, Calculator, Copier, Fax, Computer COMPUTER SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS • Has knowledge of each program, • Knowledge of Office software programs Physical Demands: • Individual must be able to meet physical requirements of the job: Sitting at a meeting table or desk, reaching, lifting, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects - Bending, Standing, Stooping, Twisting, Climbing steps, Driving a vehicle *The Lead Teacher will be required to lift children as needed.
