American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 11/10/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a Cardiac Stepdown (CVU) unit within an acute care hospital, • Unit has 18 beds and operates at Trauma Level 1, • Primary patient population includes intermediate care, post-CVICU patients supporting the thoracic program, cath lab, and cardiac/vascular diagnoses, • Common cases involve CVAs, CHF, A fib RVR, and other cardiac and vascular issues, • Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:4; 1:3 for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hours, • RNs titrate drips including amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine, and cardizem, • BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula respiratory equipment are used, • Charting is performed using Epic EMR, • Assignment is for 13 weeks of 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700), • Required to work every other weekend, • Will float to similar or lower acuity units as needed, • Navy blue scrubs are required, • RNs are responsible for titrating multiple cardiac drips and closely monitoring post-cardiac and vascular care patients, • Pass/fail skills exam (open book) will be administered during orientation with a required passing score of 90%, • Orientation is tailored to the nurse’s experience and typically consists of 1-2 unit-specific shifts, • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments and non-compliance will lead to contract termination, • Every shift is supported by charge nurses (rarely taking a patient assignment), nurse aides, and 24/7 hospitalist/intensivist coverage with cardiology on call, • Remote monitor techs are available, but RNs must personally interpret telemetry readings, • Up to 7 days of time off (RTO) may be requested up front during the 13-week contract; no additional time will be approved after submission\n \n Requirements\n, • Active NE or Compact RN license, current and in hand at the time of consideration, • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year with the specified patient population, • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required, • Experience with cardiac stepdown or similar acuity levels required, • Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently, • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility as demonstrated by a valid driver’s license, • Candidate may not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
