American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 03/30/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Days, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Mar 30, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Acute care setting with a mixed PCU, Oncology, and Med-Surg unit (5N), • Level 1 Trauma facility, • Adult patient population with a focus on oncology and trauma diagnoses, • 28-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 (PCU) and 1:5 (Med-Surg) on days, and 1:5–6 on nights, • Common drips include chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, and protonix; RNs may titrate insulin and cardizem, • Hemodynamic monitoring equipment in use including CVP, A-line, Swan, and EV-1000; ventilator patients also present, • IV pumps: Alaris, • EMR: Epic (recent Epic experience within 6 months is noted for orientation planning purposes but is not a deal-breaker), • 12-hour day shifts (7a–7p), • Every other weekend required, • Self-scheduling unit, • Floating required to same level of care (Med-Surg and PCU units)Requirements, • Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses will not be accepted, • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required, with both PCU and oncology experience required, • Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, NIHSS, and ONS/ONCC; pending certifications will not be accepted, • Chemo certification preferred but not required, • Driver's license required for consideration (used to verify permanent address), • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire, • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (permanent address verified via driver's license), • Candidates may not have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be consideredAdditional Information, • Responsibilities include caring for oncology and trauma PCU patients, performing hourly rounding, and administering and titrating drips as needed, • Competencies in ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000, ICP) are expected; training available in real time for these skills, • Unit is supported by nursing assistants, a charge nurse, PT/OT, RN case manager, social work, educator, and a dietician, • Orientation is 2 days (12 hours total); a pass/fail open-book exam is administered on the Friday of orientation — a minimum score of 90% is required to continue the assignment, • Navy blue scrubs required, • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas, • RTO must be requested upfront; no more than 7 days per 13-week contract will be approved, and additional RTO will not be approved after submission With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
