Job DescriptionBenefits/Perks • Competitive Compensation, • Paid Time Off Responsibilities: • Receive and process transportation requests from dispatch • Operate vehicle according to all safety standards and in accordance with state law, • Follow assigned route and adhere to established schedules, • Drive van to and from extracurricular activities, • Check van for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notify supervisor of needed repairs, • Report all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, mechanical failure, and complete required reports, • Keep records on van mileage, gas and oil consumption, and number of passengers transported, • Keep assigned van clean and fueled, • Learn and adapt to each students special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs, • Supervise students as they board and leave van and cross street, • Communicate with teachers and caregivers on a daily basis regarding student behavior while on bus, • Maintain discipline and report student discipline problems to appropriate administrator, • Instruct students on safe riding rules and regulations, • Ensure safety by engaging in pre-trip review/ inspect any vehicle prior to driving, • Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses, • Ensure proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, crow bar, and reflectors, • Correct unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisor of any conditions that are not immediately correctable., • Report any hazardous conditions along scheduled routes., • Work irregular hours as needed (Mon - Fri Only)., • Attend and complete required training program to maintain certification status., • Must be able to safely and effectively operate equipment used including, but not limited to school transportation van, locks, seatbelts, harnesses, car seats, special adaptive equipment, safety equipment (flares, reflective signs), fire extinguisher. Qualifications • High school diploma/GED, • Previous experience driving experience of 5 year or more preferred., • Excellent user of smart phone, • Ability to use GPS, • Understanding of best practices and procedures for emergency response situations, • Strong verbal and written communication skills, • Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize projects, • Ability to work well under pressure, • Must have knowledge of local geography and transportation routes (Must know the state of CT well)., • Computer Skills, • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations, • Valid driver's license and clean driving record, • Ability to pass a background check and drug test, • Availability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed, • Innovative
