Job Description Position Summary We are hiring a Associate Controls Engineer to support the daily troubleshooting and maintenance of automation systems, electrical controls, and computer-based maintenance tracking in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a motivated technician or early-career engineer with an associate degree (or equivalent hands-on experience) and 1–2 years of experience working with industrial automation, controls, or electrical systems in a manufacturing enviroment. You’ll work closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to diagnose PLC and electrical issues, maintain control system hardware, and ensure accurate CMMS and documentation practices. The right candidate enjoys solving both machine-level and computer-level problems and is comfortable working on the plant floor as well as at a computer. Key Responsibilities • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled systems, including diagnosing I/O faults, communication errors, and logic-related issues., • Perform PLC backups, restores, and version control for Allen-Bradley systems., • Diagnose and repair issues with electrical systems up to 480VAC, including sensors, relays, motors, and VFDs., • Support HMI and industrial PC troubleshooting, including communication loss, configuration errors, and data handling., • Maintain and organize data within Limble CMMS: enter work orders, track PMs, record downtime, and generate reports., • Assist with networked equipment troubleshooting, including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, or device connectivity., • Maintain and update control system documentation: schematics, PLC version logs, and wiring diagrams., • Support spare parts tracking and help standardize control system components., • Participate in small automation upgrades and assist with commissioning and testing activities., • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime and improve reliability. Required Qualifications • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field; or equivalent technical or military experience., • 1–2 years of experience in manufacturing, electrical maintenance, or automation support., • Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC systems and ladder logic, with the ability to troubleshoot I/O and logic faults., • Familiarity with multimeters, electrical panels, sensors, and control wiring., • Basic computer troubleshooting skills, including file management, network configuration, and industrial software use., • Understanding of safe electrical work practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Preferred Qualifications • Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley software such as RSLogix or Studio 5000., • Experience using Limble CMMS for work order management and reporting., • Familiarity with industrial networking and communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus)., • Basic mechanical troubleshooting ability (motors, actuators, pneumatic components)., • Understanding of HMI interfaces and control panel layouts.
