Job Description The AV Installation Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of audio-visual systems in various business, municipal, educational, industrial, and commercial environments, on customer premises. This role involves working with a variety of technologies including theater systems, distributed audio, video displays, control systems, networking equipment, and smart automation solutions. The technician ensures all systems are installed to company standards, operate efficiently, and meet client expectations. The AV technician will interpret system designs, execute installations according to company standards, and ensure all systems are fully functional and meet client expectations. This position requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting system designs, running and terminating cables, mounting equipment, troubleshooting connection, software, hardware equipment issues, and providing basic client education on system use. Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship are essential to success in this role. Job Requirements: • Managing customer relationships and participating in the installation of the scope of work collaboration and attending client meetings, • Executes high-level system installations that may include system integrations, programming and AV systems placement., • Works cohesively across multiple departments (internally/externally) to ensure that expectations and performance goals are met., • Provide technical expertise to support the design, architecture, installation and planning of audio, video and control solutions, • Interfacing directly with client management and end-users, in person, by phone, &/or e-mail, • Maintain and update Outlook with tasks, appointments, meetings and other event-related activities, • Contribute to developing standards that support the design and sales process, • Demonstrating continued technical education through vendor and/or industry certifications, • Install and configure audio-visual equipment including TVs, projectors, speakers, control systems, and networking devices., • Run, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling (Cat5/6, speaker wire, HDMI, fiber, etc.), • Read and interpret system schematics, blueprints, and installation documentation., • Mount and secure AV equipment such as displays, racks, and speakers safely and accurately., • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during and after installation., • Perform system testing, calibration, and quality checks to ensure optimal performance., • Program and configure basic control systems and network-connected devices., • Maintain a clean and organized job site while adhering to safety standards., • Communicate effectively with team members, project managers, and clients., • Provide basic user training and support to clients on installed systems., • Document completed work, including updates, issues, and system configurations., • Assist with service calls, upgrades, and maintenance of existing systems. Requirements • 2+ years of experience with AV installation, low-voltage systems, required., • Knowledge of control systems (e.g., Control4, Crestron, Savant), • Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, routers, switches), • Ability to use hand and power tools safely, electrical troubleshooting tools (low-voltage), network & IP-based hardware and software tools, structured cabling, and network testing tools., • Prior experience with running, terminating, labeling, and test low-voltage cabling (Cat5/6, speaker wire, HDMI, fiber, etc.), • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites, required., • HS Diploma, or GED, required., • Demonstrated knowledge via various manufacturer or professional training and certifications (Crestron, Extron, Biamp, ClearOne, Shure, or (CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-D, EAVA, CVE, DMC-E, etc.), and Video conferencing., • Strong knowledge of the AV and Unified Communications markets, including complimentary products, technology, and future trends, • Proven track record creating and clearly documenting AV Systems Design, (schematics, flow charts, manuals etc.), • Proven experience in strategic planning, • OSHA 10 certification, desired., • Valid NYS Driver’s License, and a good driving record, required.
