We are seeking a Civil Engineer with a Hydrologic and Hydraulic focus to support complex water resource and site development projects across New Jersey. This role blends technical design, modeling, regulatory compliance, and field-based assessments to support sustainable infrastructure development. Job Overview The Civil Engineer will design and analyze stormwater systems, water resource projects, hydrologic and hydraulic models, and site development plans. This role requires strong technical proficiency in modeling software, familiarity with NJDEP regulations, and hands-on experience preparing design documents, engineering reports, and watershed analyses. The ideal candidate brings expertise across civil site engineering and water resource modeling, with the ability to collaborate on multidisciplinary projects and deliver high-quality engineering documentation. Job Responsibilities * Design and analyze water resource and hydrologic/hydraulic projects using platforms such as HEC-RAS, Hydro-CAD, and TR-55 * Perform Civil Site Plan Design, including layout, grading, utilities, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and construction details * Conduct H&H studies, flood hazard impact analysis, and design work for bridges and culverts in compliance with NJDEP 7:13 * Model streams, rivers, drainage systems, and stormwater conveyance/storage features * Prepare technical reports, design documents, and stormwater management plans for complex drainage systems * Perform watershed analysis, including mitigation design, storm detention modeling, bridge hydraulics, storm sewer network modeling, and culvert design * Review shop drawings and technical submissions and provide feedback to project teams * Conduct field inspections and document findings in written reports * Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to produce complete civil drawings and technical specifications Skills & Experience * NJ Professional Engineer (PE) license required * Minimum 5+ years of experience in Civil Engineering, including water resource and hydrologic/hydraulic design * Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, HEC-RAS, Hydro-CAD, TR-55, and related modeling tools * Experience preparing Civil Site Plans, construction layouts, utility plans, grading plans, stormwater systems, and soil erosion & sediment control plans * Knowledge of NJDEP Flood Hazard and Stormwater Management rules (NJAC 7:13 & 7:8) * Ability to conduct H&H studies and design for bridges and culverts per NJDEP standards * Proven ability to write technical engineering reports and design documentation * Strong problem-solving skills, especially in field-based and project-execution contexts * Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary team environments Preferred Qualifications * Membership or certification within structural, civil, or water resource engineering associations * Working knowledge of GIS for engineering support * Project management experience including budgeting, scheduling, or database tracking Why Work With Our Client * Supportive and collaborative workplace culture * Competitive salary, health benefits, and professional development support * Opportunities for continuing education and advancement * Work that directly improves environmental resilience and community water systems * Meaningful impact through sustainable infrastructure design
