Job Description Job Title: Demand Planner Job Description The Demand Planner supports the end-to-end demand planning process within an Integrated Business Planning (IBP) framework, creating accurate and actionable forecasts that guide supply chain, commercial, and financial decisions. This role uses market insights, historical trends, and promotional data to build demand forecasts, participate in monthly Demand Review processes, and support key business initiatives such as new product launches, SKU rationalization, and capacity planning. Working closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations, the Demand Planner helps optimize inventory, service levels, and operational efficiency while driving continuous improvement in IBP processes, analytics, and forecasting capabilities. Responsibilities • Develop and maintain a rolling 0–24 month operational forecast at the product and location level using the IBP Demand module within the Integrated Business Planning framework., • Analyze multiple demand drivers, including sales plans, syndicated consumption data, distribution changes, shipment history, competitive dynamics, seasonality, and marketing initiatives, to build an accurate demand plan in a CPG or ingredient environment., • Perform forecast performance analysis, such as MAPE and bias, to identify trends, improve forecast accuracy, and support continuous improvement initiatives., • Communicate demand insights, risks, and opportunities to cross-functional stakeholders in a clear and actionable way., • Participate in the monthly IBP Pre-Demand Review process to support alignment on a consensus demand signal and ensure visibility to key assumptions, risks, and opportunities., • Support preparation for the IBP Integrated Demand Review in partnership with demand planning leadership., • Partner with Sales and Commercial Planning to evaluate customer performance, promotional effectiveness, trade events, distribution gains and losses, and SKU lifecycle changes, and incorporate these insights into the demand plan., • Support demand planning activities for innovation launches, product transitions, and SKU rationalization, including consideration of pipeline fill, cannibalization, and phase-in/phase-out strategies., • Collaborate with Finance to support financial forecasting cycles, including the Annual Operating Plan and periodic Latest Estimates, ensuring alignment between demand forecasts, revenue expectations, and financial plans., • Assist with IBP system and process improvements, contributing to the adoption, standardization, and enhancement of demand planning tools and forecasting capabilities., • Partner with Supply Planning and Operations to translate demand plans into supply requirements, identify risks, and support service level and inventory optimization., • Participate in cross-functional planning meetings, providing demand insights and supporting alignment across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, IT, and R&D., • Support a culture of data-driven decision-making, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the demand planning and IBP processes., • Use SAP or other ERP systems and Excel (including pivot tables and data exports) to manage, analyze, and report on demand, inventory, and replenishment data., • Contribute to inventory planning, inventory control, and replenishment activities to support optimal stock levels and service performance., • Coordinate with logistics-related activities such as ocean freight, ocean export and import, LTL shipping, and bill of lading (BOL) documentation as they relate to demand and inventory planning., • Bachelor’s degree., • At least 3 years of experience in data collection, planning, analysis, reporting, and project leadership., • Functional knowledge of supply chain processes, including production planning, inventory, and deployment., • Working knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems., • Working knowledge of MS Office, including strong Excel skills such as pivot tables and data exports., • Experience with demand planning and forecasting within an Integrated Business Planning (IBP) framework., • Ability to analyze sales plans, consumption data, shipment history, and promotional activities to build accurate demand plans., • Experience performing forecast performance analysis using metrics such as MAPE and bias., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset., • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, IT, and R&D., • Approximately 6 years of combined experience in production planning, inventory management, and logistics is highly desirable., • Experience in a CPG or ingredient manufacturing environment., • Hands-on experience with inventory planning, inventory control, and replenishment processes., • Familiarity with purchasing processes and schedule planning., • Experience working with ocean freight, ocean export, ocean import, LTL shipping, and bill of lading (BOL) documentation., • Strong general computer skills and comfort working with data-intensive systems., • Experience supporting system and process improvements, particularly within IBP or demand planning tools. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sacramento, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
