Job Description Summary: This person is a member of a production crew that operates two production lines. You will work with your shift to safely produce high quality product in a fast pace continuous operation environment. The expectation for Level 1 operator is to deliver quality packaging and products for our customers. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Plant and Environmental Safety Lives the Safety Stand and meets all safety requirements. Safety is a condition of employment. Take personal ownership to work safely and hold other team members to the same high standards of safety Notify supervisor immediately of any accident, near miss or on- the -job injury when it occurs no matter how insignificant it may seem. Participates in the safety, quality, autonomous maintenance, TPM and housekeeping programs as established within the plant; including but not limited to Focused Improvement Events, Safety Committee, Training, etc. Performs job tasks to reduce environmental impact and adheres to the environmental regulations and recycling procedures for waste disposal. Complies with all plant rules and safety regulations. Performs cleanup duties at workstations and/or equipment/machinery. Communicates safety concerns and/or equipment problems/abnormalities to appropriate personnel, maintaining strong communication with the appropriate line section operators to ensure immediate action is taken for product out of spec. Inspect vehicles before use and throughout shift, keeping all equipment clean and operational. TPM: Participates in plant TPM initiatives - completing activities associated with TPM tasks (adheres to CILT standard, 5S). Continues to use TPM methodology to gain a better understanding of the equipment. Identifies and participates proactively in learning opportunities and develops expertise in those areas. Utilizes Focus Improvement tools to problem solve. Works to achieve zero injuries, zero defects and zero losses. During PM days, uses time effectively to bring equipment to optimal condition for zero losses. Maintain DM and Step Boards. Quality: Perform quality checks. Maintain control panel adjust speed, delays, and other timers if needed. Interface with plant employees to provide quality control information. Monitor and report unusual or suspect material issues. Keep layout board updated. Understand and react to upset conditions. Evaluate all finished product for proper weight. Productivity: Both Processes: Have a basic understanding of product process. Operate both Palletizers. Operate Shingle wrapper Operate stretch wrappers for all pallets. Operate banding equipment. Follow IVC inventory processes; print and apply labels. Weigh and report pallet weights. Operate powered industrial vehicles (including forklifts, Mule, sweepers, and scrubbers). Load and stack rewrap. Accurately report the amount of scrap and seconds for tracking. Adjust guide plates and speed for different products. Cover all front-end employee outages (to cover vacation, holiday, call-offs, etc.). Relieve crew members from duties for breaks. Visibly verify completion and submission of all level 1 operator paperwork (LPA, FAI, Dimension, Pallet Count Sheet). Insert cores into rolls. Manage seconds, scrap, and trash. Monitor equipment. Listen for alarms and responds appropriately to the various alarm signals. All other tasks or duties assigned by your leader. Assist in all lace-up, product change, and color change procedures. Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on down days. Assist the shift mechanic on machine outages. Other: Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate. Support the training and development of colleagues. Demonstrates flexibility to changing priorities as business needs dictate. Identifies and participates proactively in learning opportunities, and develops expertise in those areas. Follows standard operating procedures and processes. Can and is willing to make decisions. Knows the chain of command to get support. Regular Attendance on site and the ability to rotate varying shifts. All other duties as assigned or needed. Job Overview This Crane Assembly/Disassembly (A/D) Director will lead in the assembly and disassembly of a wide variety of cranes, from operating the crane to directing and ensuring the quality of work of other personnel. They will communicate with dispatchers, brokers, and truck drivers who are transporting the crane and will manage the load out or offload of the cranes parts. Extensive knowledge required of the procedures required to properly assemble and erect cranes and how to troubleshoot problems as they arise. Good judgment and a strong work ethic are required as many of the job sites are less than ideal. This person will work with crews and ensure the cranes are assembled correctly using the correct equipment, positioning, and rigging. They will also ensure that all crews are complying with safety requirements, have safety training, are wearing proper PPE, and complete the Job Hazard Analysis. This is a remote position that will support efforts across North America. Ideal candidates will be located in Texas, Oklahoma, or Louisiana. Responsibilities • Detailed knowledge and experience in assembling and disassembling a wide variety of lattice boom crawlers, telecrawlers, and RTs according to the manufacturers specifications., • Full working knowledge of prohibitions, warnings, and cautions relative to assembling or disassembling each specific type of crane., • Have a good working knowledge and understanding of LHEs (Load Handling Equipment such as cranes, gantry systems, etc.), rigging, and safe load handling procedures., • Knows the right questions to ask during the lift planning phase and understands the roles and responsibilities of the site supervisor, the LHE operator, the user, and the owner., • Proven track record of thoroughly inspecting every part of the crane prior to building or disassembly to document the condition of the crane., • Experience and knowledge of troubleshooting communication issues, error codes, and basic electrical and hydraulic issues with cranes., • Level-headed and able to teach and be a good mentor for riggers and junior A&D techs., • Self-motivated and always staying productive and efficient to move the job forward, even when there are delays outside of their control while on the job site., • An understanding and drive to control costs as much as they are able by getting trucks off the clock, avoiding calling out a mechanic if they can do the work themselves, and communicating delays to their supervisor as early as possible. Job Description As a Sheet Metal Mechanic at Polk, you’ll play a key role in fabricating and installing high-quality ductwork and sheet metal systems that power some of the most complex commercial and industrial projects in Texas.
