Job Duty 2 - Participate in reviews for compliance with policy and governmental regulations in the field. Job Duty 3 - Provide input to department policies and procedures. Job Duty 4 - May provide input to and administer project timelines and budgets. Job Duty 5 - May interact with vendors regarding procurement and delivery issues. Job Duty 6 - Perform other duties as assigned Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience Other Required Qualifications Position requires the ability to pass a drug/alcohol pre-screening; may require working competently with dangerous materials and in a dangerous environment, such as around or on rotating machinery, live electrical circuits, hazardous materials, high-pressure liquids and gas, and bot surfaces. In addition, it may require lifting heavy objects of up to 75 pounds, and working in confined spaces, noisy environments, and elevated locations (such as climbing extension ladder and other types of ladders; or using scaffolding) either inside or outside of a building. During adverse weather, activities may require extensive after hours work or callback. This job may require wearing a full-face respirator in accordance with Georgia Tech campus policies and procedures. This job will require some evening hours and hours during peak times, as well as being a part of an on-duty rotation. Supports the development of curricular and instructional resources at the Georgia Tech Library under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Libraries for Interdisciplinary Initiatives. The intern will contribute to a proposed undergraduate course on open government and government transparency, conducting research, developing supporting materials, and engaging with library instruction and outreach activities. This is a limited-term, in-person position with flexible scheduling. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Assistant Dean of Libraries, library faculty and staff, and Georgia Tech students. This position typically will advise and counsel: N/A This position will supervise: N/A Job Duties/Responsibilities 1. Conduct landscape research on comparable undergraduate curricula at peer institutions related to open government, government transparency, and information access. Compile and summarize findings to inform course design., 2. Identify, evaluate, and annotate relevant databases, primary source repositories, open records resources, and government information tools appropriate for undergraduate instruction., 3. Contribute to the development of a library research guide and supporting instructional materials for the proposed course, in collaboration with the supervising librarian., 4. Participate in FASET, Georgia Techs new student orientation program, supporting library outreach and engagement activities for incoming first-year students., 5. Shadow the host supervisors co-teaching of GT2000, a first-year transfer student experience course, with possible opportunity to participate in instructional activities., 6. Maintain documentation of project progress, research findings, and deliverables throughout the term., 7. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Degrees required: Bachelors degree; current enrollment in a masters degree program in library science, archival studies, or a related field. Experience required: No minimum experience required beyond degree enrollment. KSA: Demonstrated research skills and familiarity with academic research methods; knowledge of basic library principles and services; ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly; capacity to manage independent project work with iterative feedback. Preferred Qualifications Coursework or demonstrated knowledge in public administration, government information, or policy studies. Familiarity with qualitative or quantitative research coding methods. Prior experience with library instruction, research guides, or information literacy instruction. Additional Information This is a limited-term, in-person position based at the Georgia Tech Library. Scheduling is flexible within standard library operating hours by agreement with the supervising administrator. The intern is expected to complete no fewer than 150 hours during the term.
