Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Wound Care, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: ASAP, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 40 hours per week, • Shift: 8 hours, days, • Employment Type: Travel \nShift: 8 am- 4:30 pm \nDays: 5 days a week 8 hour shifts/ day \nLocation: Kings County Hospital \nRequired Skills & Experience:\n \n • Two (2) years of Med/Surg experience.\n, • Wound and Colostomy experience.\n\nRequired Education:\n\n, • Associate’s degree (ASN, ADN) from an accredited Nursing Program.\n\nRequired Certifications & Licensure:\n\n, • New York State RN License.\n, • Primary Source Verification of License and Registration of Registered Professional Nurse from NYS Department of Education (NYSED).\n, • AHA BLS.\n, • Current certification in one of the following:\n, • Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) issued by the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB).\n, • Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) issued by the WOCNCB.\n, • Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) issued by the WOCNCB.\n, • Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) issued by the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM).\n, • Develop, revise, and evaluate standards of care, assist in the selection of supplies, technology and equipment.\n, • Assess and document patient response to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula and complex wounds treatment. Evaluate the quality and delivery of care provided by the clinical staff on unit.\n, • Works collaboratively with the health care team and makes referrals to other disciplines as indicated.\n, • Teaches, counsels, and assists individuals and families to assume responsibility for prevention of complications as they relate to patients with ostomies, wounds, or continence problems.\n, • Develop, provide and evaluate staff education programs, i.e., new employee orientation, in services, and continuing education programs.\n, • Routinely providing comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for developing pressure injuries. Initiating preventative measures.\n, • Escalate and communicate challenges identified including ethical issues and issues related to conflict resolution.\n, • Routinely collaborating with Assistant Director of Nursing for Wound Care to initiate and recommend best practices based on prudent assessment.\n, • Participating in Unit/Department Quality Improvement and Hospital Wide Q.I activities, i.e. Incidence, Prevalence Studies and Nursing Quality.\n, • Providing culturally competent patient, family and staff education consistent with cultural, ethnic, religious and other belief systems.\n, • Maintaining the security and confidentiality of data and information in accordance with patient rights policies.\n, • Achieving and maintaining a level of professional competency by engaging in activities consistent with clinical practice and population to serve.\n, • Identifies available community resources helpful to clients, refers and assists clients in utilizing such resources.\n As a member of Jackson Healthcare’s family of award-winning staffing companies, we’re part of a growing community that’s impacting 10 million patients nationwide.
