We provide intensive support and services to 3,500+ survivors and children every year and reach 10,000+ community members through community events and preventive education workshops. We are dedicated to developing innovative programs that meet the complex needs of our diverse community and that align withour organizational values. Program Overview The Economic Justice Program (EJP) assists participants in strengthening their economic well-being and achieving long-term economic stability. EJP specializes in promoting economic security among people who are not part of the traditional workforce and who are survivors of intimate partner and/or sexual violence.Through trauma-informed financial literacy, business development, and digital literacy education, EJP provides participants with the tools to break cycles of violence and poverty regardless of immigration status, trauma history, or language barriers. VIP is expanding its existing business development workshops to include digital literacy topics and developing theArtesanando Cohort, a group of Latina survivor-entrepreneurs who will receive intensive coaching, mentorship, and technical assistance as they create an online marketplace to sell their products and services. Position Summary The Economic Justice Advocate provides culturally specific, trauma-informed supportive services to promote economic independence and long-term stability for survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence. This role focuses on coaching, facilitation, and training to support immigrant and Latinx survivors in developing small businesses, accessing financial tools, and building collective economic power. The ideal candidate brings a deep commitment to social justice, an understanding of intersectional experiences of oppression, and strong digital and entrepreneurial skills to support survivors in navigating pathways toward financial autonomy. Key Responsibilities • Support the development and implementation of projects, services, and direct actions that increase economic security for survivors., • Assess financial, educational, and vocational goals for all participants and provide coaching to achieve those goals., • Develop and facilitate workshops on financial literacy, workforce development, business creation, and digital literacy,including e-commerce/online sales platforms (Shopify, Etsy), and social media marketing., • Co-facilitate the Artesanando Cohort, providing individualized coaching to participants focused on business growth, online branding, and income diversification., • Collaborate with web designers and marketing consultants to support the creation and maintenance of the Artesanando online marketplace, ensuring participants learn e-commerce, graphic design, and photography skills., • Track participant progress using measurable indicators to ensure compliance with funder reporting requirements., • Facilitate peer-learning sessions and mutual support spaces among cohort members, cultivating a solidarity economy approach., • Assist in the planning and execution of Artesanando markets, community events, and online campaigns to increase visibility and sales., • Maintain accurate and timely case notes and data entry in the agency database., • Represent VIP at coalitions, task forces, and events to strengthen partnerships and elevate survivor-led economic justice initiatives., • Perform additional administrative or program-related tasks as needed. Qualifications • Bachelors degree in human services, social work, business, communications, or equivalent experience., • Fully bilingual required (English/Spanish, verbal and written)., • Minimum two (2) years experience in career development, financial literacy, small business coaching, or vocational counseling., • Experience providing instruction to adults with limited formal education or workforce experience., • Experience facilitating digital literacy, social media, or business development workshops strongly preferred., • Knowledge of small business development, entrepreneurship, and marketing for immigrant or survivor-led businesses a plus., • Familiarity with digital platforms including Microsoft Office, Canva, Shopify, Etsy, and Instagram., • Excellent communication, facilitation, and data documentation skills., • Strong project management abilities to coordinate volunteers, consultants, and participant cohorts., • Passion for intersectional social justice, gender equity, and economic empowerment for marginalized communities., • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs. and travel via public transportation. Compensation & Benefits • Full-time, non-exempt position, working 35 hours per week with a pay rate of $57,500/year., • We cover 85% of the cost of medical (United Healthcare/Oxford), dental (Metlife) and vision (VSP) coverage for employee and spouse/children/family.
