Job DescriptionSalary: $130,000 to $170,000 Senior Software Engineer Energy Division (Pipeline Intelligence Suite) Location Fully Remote Expected Travel: 10% About Barr Geospatial Solutions (BGS) Barr Geospatial Solutions (BGS) is a leader inaerial intelligence, geospatial analytics, and data-driven decision making. Our family of companies includingBarr Air Patrol,Airborne Imaging,ForsiteConsulting, andNorthwest ManagementInc. brings together decades of flight operations, LiDARexpertise, and environmental intelligence under one mission:to transform aerial data acquisition into actionable intelligence and informed decision-making for critical infrastructure, energy, and environmental systems. With over2.2 million milesflown annually, BGS pioneered modern aerial patrol andcontinuesto set the standard for reliability and scale across North America. Ouraircraft, sensors, and analytics platforms deliver high-resolution data thatempowersoperators to see and act on whatshappening across thousands of miles of right-of-way and beyond. Werenow expanding ourPipeline Intelligence Suite, part of a broader initiative to convert complex geospatial data into predictive, real-time insight. Powered by proprietary algorithms, the largest high-resolution aerial dataset in North America, and hands-on operationalexpertise, wereclosing the gap between field data and fast, informed decisions. With more than450 employees across the U.S. and Canada, BGS is growing quickly and building a high-talent engineering team. Together, were creating the next era ofaerial-to-action intelligence where technologydoesntjust collectdata, butmakes it meaningful. About the Role As aSenior Software Engineeron BGSsEnergy Division, youllhelp design and build the systems that power ourPipeline Intelligence Suite the geospatial platform redefining how energy infrastructure ismonitored, analyzed, and protected across North America. Our operations spanfixed-wingaircraft, helicopters, drones, satellites, and LiDAR, capturing some of the most detailed aerial intelligence in the industry with resolutions up to100 greater than satellite imagery. This data fuels real-time analytics that help operators prevent incidents,optimizeright-of-way management, and safeguard critical assets. Wereexpanding alean, high-talent engineering teamto accelerate development across the full stack from sensor data ingestion and cloud architecture to AI models and visualization dashboards. This is anAI-first role, built for a hands-on engineer who combines deep geospatial fluency with creative problem-solving andcutting-edgesoftware practices. Youllown meaningful systems end-to-end, collaborate closely with our AI, data, and product teams, and bring ideas from concept to deployment in weeks, not months. WhatYoullDo • Architect and develop core systems for thePipeline Intelligence Suite, integrating multi-sensor geospatial data (imagery, LiDAR, satellite, drone) into scalable, high-performance applications., • Build and deploy cloud-nativeand on-premsolutions acrossboth AWS and Azure, ensuring resilience, scalability, and data integrity., • Lead front-end development of client-facing dashboards and in-plane interfaces, designing intuitive, high-performance UIs that surface insights clearly and drive adoption., • Collaborate with AI engineers and data scientists to operationalizeobject-detection, change-detection, and predictive-risk models., • Design APIs, data pipelines, and services to process and visualize geospatial intelligence in near real-time., • Rapidly prototype and iterateMVPs,validatingnew features directly with internal and external users., • LeverageAI-enhanced development tools likeCursor, Claude Code, and/orGitHub Copilotto 10 productivity, automate workflows, and accelerate delivery., • Continuously explore emergingAI agent frameworks andsoftware-automation tools to integrate into our internal engineering stack., • Apply creative thinking to every problem designing solutions that balance speed, accuracy, and operational practicality., • Mentor peers and help build a small, high-leverage internal team aroundAI-first, geospatial-driven engineering excellence. WhatWereLooking For • Mandatory: Deepexpertiseinintegratedsystems, data, and software development ideally across imagery, LiDAR, or remote-sensing applications., • 510 years of experience insoftware engineering, with a strong portfolio ofproduction-grade geospatial applications., • Proven experience deployingcloud solutions on both AWS and Azure., • ProficiencyinPython, TypeScript, or modern JS frameworks(React, Next.js, etc.)., • Proven experience infront-end development for geospatial or data-rich interfaces, including building intuitive, high-performance dashboards., • DemonstratedproficiencyusingAI-assisted development tools(Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, etc.) with tangible examples of increased velocity or quality., • Strong understanding ofAPI architecture, distributed systems, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps best practices., • Familiarity withgeospatial frameworks and libraries suchas ESRI,Mapbox, GDAL,Rasterio,PostGIS, or Deck.gl., • Proven ability to creatively design solutions from problem statement to production balancing user needs, performance, and maintainability., • Bonus: Experience withAI/ML integration, data-driven automation, or multi-sensor fusion pipelines, and geospatial data. Who You Are • A technologist withstrong engineering instincts, curiosity across the full data stack, and an interest ingeospatial, • Acreative builder whothrives when given an open-ended problem, a desired outcome, and the freedom to design the best path forward., • An engineer whouses emerging tools and automation to amplify output not replace craftsmanship., • Passionate about bridging technology and the physical world using software to protect infrastructure and lives., • Excited to join a fast-growing, elite team where your work defines the next chapter of aerial and geospatial intelligence.
