Job Description The Construction Management Instructor (Customized Workforce & Certificate Program) is responsible for delivering high-quality, noncredit instruction to adult learners, industry professionals, and workforce development participants enrolled in Bergen Community College's Construction Management programs. This role supports the Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development's mission to provide accessible, industry-aligned training that equips learners with the technical, managerial, and safety skills necessary to succeed in today's construction industry. The Instructor combines professional expertise, applied experience, and strong teaching practices to prepare students for employment advancement and certification. POSITION SUMMARY The Construction Management Certificate Program at Bergen Community College provides stackable, career-focused training for entry-level and experienced professionals. Coursework integrates project management, OSHA safety, sustainability, and digital construction technologies to reflect modern industry practices. Instruction supports both open-enrollment and customized workforce cohorts. • Construction Management Fundamentals, • Blueprint Reading & Plan Analysis, • Estimating, Cost Control, and Scheduling, • Contract Administration & Construction Law, • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety, • Digital Construction Tools (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, Revit), • Deliver engaging, interactive instruction using real-world examples and case studies., • Integrate current industry software, technology, and sustainability principles into instruction., • Adapt curriculum for employer-driven or grant-funded programs while maintaining CEWD standards., • Assess student performance through projects, tests, and applied assignments., • Maintain attendance, grading, and instructional documentation accurately and in a timely manner., • Communicate regularly with CEWD staff and workforce partners to ensure program quality and relevance., • Promote student professionalism, safety, and employability throughout instruction., • Contribute to program evaluation, curriculum updates, and instructional improvements., • Support outreach, recruitment, and orientation activities as needed. Professional and Industry Engagement, • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction codes, technologies, and management practices., • Model ethical conduct, professional integrity, and a commitment to lifelong learning. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or a related field required. Master’s degree and/or recognized industry credential (e.g., PMP, LEED AP, OSHA 30) preferred. Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in construction management or related field (estimating, scheduling, site supervision, or safety oversight). Minimum of one (1) year teaching, training, or mentoring experience (community college or workforce development preferred). Experience with digital construction tools and employer-based training programs preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of construction management principles, OSHA standards, sustainability, and digital construction tools., • Instructional Skill: Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to adult learners., • Industry Awareness: Current understanding of NJ construction practices, contracts, and project delivery., • Organization & Communication: Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with attention to detail., • Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to tailor instruction to diverse learners and employer needs.
