Job Summary The Emergency Management Coordinator provides multidisciplinary operating support, assists in the oversight of, monitors and evaluates the hospital emergency management program; manages the program, measures program performance, and identifies opportunities for improvement. Updating and distributing the emergency response plan. Creates and manages hospital emergency response, continuity, and other plans that define how the NSMC mitigates against, prepares for, responds to, and recovers from all-hazards. Adheres to hospital and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards assets. Supports regularly scheduled Emergency Preparedness Committee meetings and acts on findings, recommendations, actions, and monitoring. Supports Emergency Management programs and initiatives consistent with Hospital's Policies, Confidentiality, Privacy, and Corporate Compliance programs including federal and state regulations. Supports communication and implementation of assigned Emergency Management processes using a collaborative team approach. Performs all related duties as assigned. Coordinates and documents assigned Emergency Management projects and programs that may include clinical support, safety, security, resource management, decontamination team coordination and other elements of Emergency Management. Act as a liaison between the health system and area Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers. Serve as a hospital advocate and a representative of the hospital with local, regional, and state EMS agencies and Advisory Councils or Boards. Develop and implement a business plan, driving service line growth, and improving operations in terms of quality and processes. The EMS Coordinator functions as a liaison to clinical practice including safety, infection control, public education, service line committees, and overall EMS Outreach. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring collaboration across all care settings within the Hospital and across the region to include the EMS Resource Hospital network. EMS Coordinator will conduct oversight of providers operating within the System to ensure compliance with the EMS Medical Director's protocols/clinical operating guidelines, standard operating guidelines, and Illinois State Law through: data evaluation, quality management, compliant investigation, supervision of all didactic and clinical education and field experiences, and physician and nurse education as required. Supports the Regional EMS System Director with duties as required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Incumbent reports to the Emergency Manager Incumbent will be directly responsible for creating and maintaining All-Hazards Emergency Management and Continuity of Operations Plans for the North Shore Medical Center that defines how the Hospital against, prepares for, responds to, and recovers from all-hazards. Planning All-Hazards Emergency Management program that support how the Hospital mitigates against, prepares for, responds to, and recovers from all-hazards. Incumbent ensures development of North Shore Medical Center Emergency Management Plan, Emergency Operations Plans, hazard / threat specific plans, public health emergency planning and Continuity of Operations Planning Supports response to emergencies and disasters impacting. Ensures compliance with all Regulatory, Accreditation and Standard Setting authorities having jurisdiction for Emergency Management Elements of Preference and Conditions of Participation including U.S. Department of Education, Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, OSHA, NFPA, AAAHC and others. The employee must have a willingness to continuously develop skills in the field of emergency management. Conducts Threat, Risk and Vulnerability Assessments to determine planning needs. Valid Driver's License This position is considered essential personal and may be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Will be required to also work before, during and after disasters and major planned events such as hurricanes. Position is subject to recall 24/7 in times of emergency. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS • 0-1-year Emergency Management experience, • 0-1-year Business Continuity or Emergency Management Planning experience (Preferred), • Must possess to an exemplary degree the initiative, ability, and sound judgment to act independently as principal, • person in charge of the shift with capacity and willingness to make a strong contribution in all administrative and, • technical matters pertaining to the University Emergency Management programs., • Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills., • Must show proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), • Working knowledge or be willing to learn criteria for Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, and private insurance carriers., • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English (bilingual-Spanish preferred in FL), • Time management, multi-tasking and adaptability to change are all required skill sets in this role., • Possess critical thinking skills., • Demonstrates initiative and proactive approach to problem resolution., • Ability to work onsite independently in a fast-paced environment engaged as active team member. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) 3 years of EMS experience (Preferred), • 2 years of Supervisor experience (Preferred)Certification/Licensure:, • Healthcare training and/or licensure in any medical filed, as well as clinical experience preferred., • Bachelor's in emergency management (or related field such as healthcare, public safety, or public administration.) Must be able to pass Background and Drug Test screenings.
