Job Description The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a warm, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that supports each child’s social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development. The Lead Teacher plans, implements, and oversees high-quality curriculum and instructional practices aligned with Shenker Academy’s philosophy, Nevada licensing requirements, Silver State Stars QRIS, and Pyramid Model expectations. The Lead Teacher provides daily supervision, coaching, and guidance to assistant teachers and classroom staff. Key Responsibilities Classroom Instruction & Curriculum • Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with Multiple Intelligences and best practices in early childhood education., • Prepare and maintain a well-organized classroom with inviting materials across all learning domains., • Lead daily classroom routines, learning activities, transitions, and schedules., • Observe, document, and assess children’s development using anecdotal records and formative assessments., • Individualize instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners. Supervision & Team Leadership • Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and support to assistant teachers and classroom staff., • Assign responsibilities and provide clear direction to ensure consistency in classroom practices., • Model best practices in classroom management, curriculum implementation, and social-emotional support., • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and professional classroom team environment. Social-Emotional Development (Pyramid Model) • Implement Pyramid Model practices at the universal, targeted, and individualized levels., • Promote positive behavior, emotional regulation, and nurturing relationships., • Collaborate with leadership, support staff, and families to address challenging behaviors and support children’s social-emotional growth. QRIS (Silver State Stars) Responsibilities • Maintain classroom quality standards that exceed licensing requirements., • Participate in QRIS assessments, coaching, and continuous quality improvement initiatives., • Maintain required documentation and evidence to support QRIS participation and rating levels. Family Communication • Communicate regularly and professionally with families regarding children’s progress, development, and classroom activities., • Partner with families to support children’s learning and well-being., • Serve as the primary point of contact for classroom-level questions and concerns. Professional Responsibilities • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and collaborative planning sessions., • Actively engage in ongoing professional development, coaching, and reflective practice., • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times., • Willingness to maintain flexibility with school schedule demands to support classroom continuity, staff collaboration, and program quality., • Ensure compliance with all Shenker Academy policies, Nevada licensing regulations, and QRIS expectations. Qualifications • CDA or degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (or willingness to obtain required credentials)., • Experience working in an early childhood classroom, preferably in a Lead Teacher role., • Strong knowledge of child development, developmentally appropriate practice, and classroom management., • Ability to supervise, mentor, and support assistant teachers and classroom staff., • Commitment to continuous professional learning and quality improvement., • Willingness to participate in coaching, observations, and feedback cycles., • Familiarity with Silver State Stars QRIS and Pyramid Model practices preferred., • Must meet all Nevada childcare licensing and background check requirements., • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including meeting the physical demands of an early childhood classroom such as lifting and assisting children and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
