American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PACU - Post Anesthesia Care for a travel nursing job in Wilmington, North Carolina. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PACU - Post Anesthesia Care, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 04/13/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Days, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Apr 13, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Hospital-based PACU (Phase I & II Recovery Unit) serving patients post-surgery requiring anesthesia, • Receives patients directly from the OR, EP Lab, Endo, IR, and MRI, as well as ICU patients requiring recovery prior to unit admission, • Patient population includes vascular/endovascular, neurosurgery, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, general/bariatric, plastics, ENT, ophthalmology, and pediatric surgical cases (T&A, ear tubes, hernias, cleft lip/palate), • May recover surgical patients in an ICU-level care setting within the PACU, and may be assigned to the STICU to recover patients, • Patient ratio: 1:2, • 12-hour day shifts, 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM (3x12), with scheduling determined by OR need, • Weekend requirement varies, • On-call required approximately once every four weeks, • Float to surgical short stay for overflow patients, • Epic (documentation), Pyxis (medication), and Perfect Serve (communication) are used on this unit, • Special equipment includes cardiac monitors, arterial lines, ICP monitoring, dopplers for vascular checks, fetal heart monitors, EKOS, SCD pumps, and wound vacsRequirements, • Active NC or compact RN license required, • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS, • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, • Prior travel nursing experience required, • Phase I and Phase II PACU experience required, • ICU experience required (candidates will be screened via skills checklist), • Epic EMR experience preferredAdditional Information, • Preferred skills and experience include charge nurse experience, conscious sedation, fetal heart monitoring (FHM), ICP monitoring, telemetry, ventilator management, ICU background prior to PACU, and pediatric experience, • Orientation is comprehensive and individualized based on the nurse's experience and skill level, • Navy scrubs required, • Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters, • Unit consolidation to a centralized office may occur mid-contract, with possible reassignment to other units as needed, • RTO requests after booking are not permitted and cannot be arranged onsite; call-offs or unapproved time off may result in contract cancellation, • Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility should inquire with their recruiter about the local rate With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
