American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Wilmington, North Carolina. • Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/08/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring strong cardiac telemetry skills and an active NC or compact license. • Work in a hospital's Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a focus on cardiac patient care, • Patient populations include atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valvular disease, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD, and post-cardiac interventions, • Ratios are 1:4 for surgical stepdown and 1:5-6 for lower acuity cases, • Nights, 3x12 hour shifts (18:45-07:15), 36 hours per week, • Weekend requirement is four shifts per four weeks with flexible scheduling, • Special procedures include cardiac and thoracic surgeries, vascular procedures, catheterizations, post-electrophysiology care, and post-operative care, • Equipment used includes cardiac tele, EKG, Doppler, ICU respiratory devices, arterial lines, chest tubes, and Epicardial Pacing Wires, • EMR system is Epic and medication system is Pyxis, • Floating may occur per unit rotation, but travelers are not first to float; may float to affiliate hospitals, • Must be available for Storm Team or Hurricane Team assignments during severe events, • Provide care for complex cardiac patients throughout pre and post operative phases and cardiac interventions, • Responsibilities include monitoring complex cardiac rhythms, managing drips, performing sheath removal, and supporting a variety of surgical and medical cardiac cases, • 24-hour unit orientation provided, • Navy scrubs are required for this assignment, • No RTO is allowed after booking; call-offs may result in cancellation of assignment, • Must work two out of three major holidays during the contract, • Cannot have RTO in the first week of the assignment due to orientation, • Candidates with prior permanent or PRN employment at the facility must observe a 12 month waiting period before eligibility; rehire approval required, • Fatigue policy prohibits working more than five consecutive days or more than 60 hours per week, • All candidates will be interviewed prior to offer, • Local candidates within 50 miles are offered lower local rates, • Active NC or Compact RN license required at time of start (pending accepted for submission), • Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac unit (telemetry, PCU) experience required, • Certification in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required, • Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, sheath management, cardiac drips (including titration), chest tubes, non-invasive airway management, and post-cardiac intervention care required, • Must pass EKG testing prior to start, • Epic EMR experience required, • Traveler experience required unless candidate has 24+ months of direct cardiac experience, • Must be able to complete all required modules and testing within 48 hours of signing, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy, • Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID #P-632213.
