Job Description Job Title: Door Machine Operator Job Description This role focuses on operating specialized door machining equipment in a high-volume pre-hung door production environment. The Door Machine Operator will set up, run, and maintain Norfield and similar machinery while ensuring that all pre-hung door units meet precise specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on experience in a pre-hung door shop and is comfortable working with CNC technology and related software. Responsibilities • Set up and operate door machining equipment, including Norfield Magnums, Strike Routers, Eagles, or equivalent machines, to produce pre-hung door units., • Accurately machine and assemble pre-hung door units weighing up to 120 pounds to precise specifications and measurements., • Maintain door machining equipment by performing routine checks, cleaning, and basic preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance., • Troubleshoot machinery issues promptly to minimize downtime and keep production running smoothly., • Monitor product quality throughout the production process and ensure all units meet established company standards., • Collaborate closely with the production team to meet daily output goals and production schedules., • Assist with inventory management by tracking materials, recording usage, and maintaining accurate production and inventory records., • Perform quality control checks on finished products and address any defects or nonconformities in a timely manner., • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, machinery, and surrounding production space to support safety and efficiency., • Read and interpret Bills of Materials (BOMs), production paperwork, and related documentation to ensure accurate setup and production., • Use hand tools safely and effectively to complete machining, assembly, and finishing tasks., • Interpret hardware schematics and apply them accurately during door preparation and assembly., • Utilize experience from production environments, such as woodworking or cabinet shops, to improve workflow and product quality. Essential Skills • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a pre-hung door production facility., • Proficiency in operating Norfield door machinery such as Magnums, Strike Routers, Eagles, or comparable equipment., • Experience with production machine operation, including routers and related machinery., • Ability to lift and move materials and pre-hung door units weighing up to 120 pounds on a regular basis., • Experience with inventory management and control processes in a production environment., • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with other departments and team members., • Proficiency in the safe and effective use of various hand tools commonly used in door and woodworking production., • Strong math skills with the ability to perform precise measurements and interpret production specifications., • Ability to read and interpret Bills of Materials (BOMs), production paperwork, and hardware schematics., • Demonstrated experience in a production environment, such as a woodworking or cabinet shop, with a focus on machine operation., • Comfort working in a high-volume, quality-focused production setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience operating Point-to-Point CNC machines in a production environment., • Familiarity with Wood WOP software or similar CNC programming and operation tools., • Forklift certification or prior forklift operating experience., • Experience in hobby woodworking or cabinet shop environments that involved machine operation and precision work., • Ability to watch and interpret instructional materials or videos related to machine operation to enhance skills and efficiency. Work Environment This position is based in a production facility operating on a day shift schedule. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, involving regular lifting of materials up to 120 pounds and close collaboration with other production team members. The facility emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and adherence to safety practices while maintaining a steady, predictable daytime work routine. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tacoma, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
