Our CPG division sells market-leading branded and private label freeze-dried fruits to retailers nationwide. We are seeking a full-time Manager, Domestic Transportation & Warehousing to join our talented team in our Rochester, NY headquarters! Position Summary: The Manager, Domestic Transport and Warehousing is responsible for the strategic development, optimization, and execution of all domestic logistics across the organization's multiple divisions. This role drives cost efficiency through rigorous carrier negotiation, ensures operational excellence across all FTL, LTL, and small package services, and establishes a compliant, long-term warehousing strategy. Essential Functions: • Engage with internal and external customers (including Divisional VPs) to understand the comprehensive warehousing needs of the company., • Gather volume data from all operating divisions regarding transportation needs., • Create and issue RFQs for all domestic transportation modes related to ambient, chilled and frozen warehouse needs. Vet responses, negotiate pricing and lead a cross-functional team to choose key service providers., • Develop and issue routing guide for all operating divisions., • Provide spot quotes and customized service options as needed., • Ensure all LTL freight is properly classified via National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) standards., • Work with SLS team to develop sound audit processes for freight invoices., • Serve as point of escalation in resolving freight claims related to shrinkage or damage., • Develop KPIs and implement Quarterly Business Review (QBR) with all core providers., • Lead initiatives to integrate freight tender and shipment status updates into corporate ERP system, utilize EDI for all warehouse transactions., • Monitor shipments as required to ensure timely delivery and adherence to published transit time schedules., • Perform analyses (such as velocity studies and heat mapping) to identify optimal warehouse location and storage requirements., • Develop internal processes related to inventory control, including cycle count programs, physical inventory requirements, comparison/discrepancy reporting and reconciliation. Minimum Qualifications: • 4-year degree in applicable area of study (business, transportation management, supply chain management, etc.) or 2 year degree and applicable experience., • 3+ years of experience transportation and/or warehousing operations. Management of multi-site operations preferred., • Budget responsibilities in excess of $2MM annually., • Experience in the freight forwarding industry preferred. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: • Knowledge of domestic freight terms and NMFC classification., • Understanding of dimensional vs. actual weight calculations., • Understanding of all domestic transportation modes, including FTL, LTL, small package delivery, Multi-modal/TOFC, air freight and expedited shipping methodologies., • Knowledge of warehousing regulatory compliance requirements, including OSHA, GMP, FDA, USDA, NYS Agg and Markets, etc., • Knowledge of transportation regulatory compliance requirements, including DOT, FMSCA, SAFER, etc., • Strong analytical skills; critical thinking and problem-solving mindset. Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies., • Knowledge of various transportation modes including air freight, LCL, FCL., • General knowledge of geography and transactions related to the warehousing and transportation industries., • Proficiency in general office computer skills Email, internet, Microsoft office products. ERP experience preferred., • Engaged team leader focused on employee development and conflict resolution., • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills., • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to perform/prioritize multiple tasks to meet various deadlines., • Self-motivated; ability to work with minimal supervision.
