Job Description Role Summary: This position serves as a team lead and provides some supervision for women’s campus shelter monitor. It is responsible for the operation of our women's shelter, which includes both program participants and Drop-In Shelter guests. This is an on- shift position, with one-two flexible days per week, as agreed upon with the supervisor, for additional duties. While on shift, this position helps to ensure the safety of our participants, consistency in services, and is responsible for documentation and crisis management. This position is responsible for working 2nd shift, unless otherwise needed, and every other weekend Role Requirements and Preferences: Required: • High School diploma or equivalent., • Minimum 2 years supervising others in a similar role., • If HT program graduate, at least 3 years of living off campus., • Knowledge of available resources, • Computer skills(Excel, Outlook, data entry and Microsoft Word), • Peer Support Certification., • Leadership: Strong leadership skills to motivate and engage employees. Individuals will need to be able to role model effective participant engagement skills as well as strong supervisory and management skills., • Ethical conduct/practice: Familiarity with relevant Codes of Ethics and demonstrate a thorough understanding of boundaries and self-care., • Organized: Must be able to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Needs to have good organizational skills and keen attention to detail. This position is responsible for documentation which must be thorough and accurate., • Guest Engagement: Must bring a passion for recovery as well as case management/homelessness and demonstrate willingness to take initiative. Must be non-judgmental, empathetic, genuine and trustworthy., • Communication: Must possess strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with guests, colleagues, and community partners. Exchange of information is a crucial component of safe and efficient operation., • Flexibility: Must be able to adapt to a changing environment, schedules, culture, and processes. Must possess creativity to advance our organization and humility o continually grow and learn from others., • Customer Service: Must demonstrate capacity to be non-judgmental, attentively listen, and offer support., • Decision Making: Must demonstrate sound judgment and ability to utilize available resources (other staff on duty, On Call, etc.), • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all work, from data entry to complex project management., • Provides direct supervision for Recovery Engagement Specialists/Shelter Monitors as determined by Director of Emergency Shelter Operations., • Serves as a role model for staff working in the shelter, • Acts as the senior staff on duty to provide guidance and direction to other staff, • Addresses and resolves issues that arise while on shift, as well as off-duty as assigned, • Responds to crises as they occur, serving as the primary staff responsible while on shift, • Assesses the health and well-being of guests at all times by making regular shelter rounds, • Ensures that guests understand, complete and sign all intake documentation, • Introducing guests to staff and orients guests to the emergency shelter, • Oversee all check-in procedures (bed assignment, searches, storage of guest property including medication, cell phones and weapons), • Maintains current guest records (shelter cards and rosters) and ensures appropriate storage and confidential handling., • Create and maintain a healthy environment in the shelter that is trauma-informed and conducive to engagement., • Maintains accurate inventory for any items issued to shelter guests (towels, blankets, etc.), • Collaborates with other staff on duty and utilize On Call as needed for decision making, • Communicate between shifts and other departments about guest issues (guest taken to hospital, movement in program, etc.) via email, shelter notes, and Incident reports, • Ensures pertinent resources and information are available to guests (resource packets, meeting sheets), • Completes checklist, ensuring belongings have been properly stored or removed, and note any issues needing attention (maintenance, etc.), • Encourages and spends time listening to guests and offering support and/or connecting with resources as needed, • Conducts, at minimum, a weekly shelter meeting to go over guidelines and expectations with all shelter guests, • Coordinates chores, kitchen volunteers, meeting attendance, laundry volunteers, and transportation to meals while on shift., • Coordinates after hours referrals from law enforcement, other community providers, or first-time guests., • Works to reduce barriers to services, increase engagement and retention, and improve guest outcomes. Work Environment: This role involves the use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets. Employees may occasionally be exposed to wet or humid outdoor conditions. The typical noise level is moderate. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently needs to sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with arms. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Language Requirements: English is the primary language of software, documents, participants, and staff of HT, though speaking additional languages is a valuable asset. Travel Requirements: There may be mandatory meetings and/or trainings that take place on another campus or location. You are required to travel to the appropriate location at these times.
