Job DescriptionJob Title: Welder Job Description This role performs a wide range of welding operations using multiple processes in accordance with AWS standards to support fabrication, construction, and repair projects. You will interpret technical drawings, set up and operate welding equipment, and work with various metals to produce high‑quality welds that meet project specifications and safety requirements. Responsibilities • Perform welding operations using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, or other qualified processes in accordance with AWS certification requirements., • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), and fabrication drawings to determine job requirements., • Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment, tools, and fixtures to ensure safe and efficient operation., • Inspect welds visually and with measuring tools to confirm compliance with AWS standards and project specifications., • Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), adherence to hot‑work procedures, and compliance with OSHA guidelines., • Work with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, sheet steel, cast iron, and other metals as required by the project., • Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and quality inspectors to ensure accuracy, quality, and timely completion of work., • Perform weld repairs, rework, and adjustments as needed to meet quality and inspection requirements., • Maintain accurate documentation of welds, materials used, and inspection results for quality and traceability purposes., • Support continuous improvement efforts in welding processes and overall shop practices to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency., • Use power tools and hand tools, including grinders, torches, and cutting tools, to prepare, fit, and finish welded components., • Assist with HVAC and ductwork fabrication and installation tasks, including working with sheet metal and duct installation when needed., • Measure and lay out work accurately using tape measures and other measuring instruments., • Perform general labor and construction support tasks related to welding, fabrication, plumbing connections, and installation work as assigned.Essential Skills, • Current AWS Welder Certification, such as D1.1 Structural Steel, D1.2 Aluminum, D1.3 Sheet Steel, D1.6 Stainless Steel, or similar applicable certifications., • Proven experience in industrial, structural, or fabrication welding environments., • Ability to perform welding using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, or other AWS‑qualified welding processes., • Ability to pass weld tests in accordance with AWS standards and project requirements., • Strong understanding of welding safety practices and OSHA regulations., • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in various positions, including overhead, vertical, and in confined spaces., • Proficiency using grinders, torches, cutting tools, and measuring instruments such as tape measures., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, WPS, and fabrication drawings accurately., • Capability to work with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, sheet metal, and other common fabrication metals.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with HVAC systems, ductwork, and duct installation in fabrication or construction settings., • Background in sheet metal work, including fabrication and installation., • Familiarity with plumbing‑related fabrication and installation tasks., • Comfort using a wide range of power tools and hand tools in a shop or construction environment., • Experience working with cast iron and other specialty metals., • Ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in welding and fabrication processes., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality, code‑compliant welds., • Effective communication skills to collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and quality inspectors.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a shop and field environment focused on welding, fabrication, HVAC, and construction‑related work. You will regularly work with welding equipment for SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW processes, as well as grinders, torches, cutting tools, power tools, and hand tools. The work involves handling carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, sheet metal, cast iron, and other metals, often in positions such as overhead, vertical, and within confined spaces. You will follow OSHA safety guidelines, hot‑work procedures, and use appropriate PPE at all times. The environment may be noisy, with exposure to heat, sparks, and metal fumes, and may require standing, bending, and lifting heavy materials throughout the shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Jeffersonville, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
