Job DescriptionDescription: The Urban League Economic Development Corporation is a not-for-profit development and management company that assists low- and moderate income families and seniors to secure suitable housing across upstate New York. The Full-time Leasing Agent assists the Site Manager to oversee the daily activities of the property including financial results, legal and compliance adherence and resident satisfaction. • Assists the Site Manager to manage all aspects of a building’s occupancy., • Answers phone calls, messages, and email promptly; within a few hours but never exceeding 24 hours., • Promotes resident satisfaction and retention by responding to complaints, questions, and requests in a timely manner., • Meets with prospective tenants to show properties, conduct interviews, receive rental applications, and explain terms of occupancy., • Processes applications and assists the Site Manager and maintains the waitlist., • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed., • Performs or assists with any operations as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules., • Complies with anti-discrimination laws regarding housing, renting, and advertising. Requirements: Education & Experience • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred., • Minimum 1 year of related experience and/or training in the property management field., • Valid Class D driver’s license required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Excellent time management and communication skills are necessary., • Basic personal computer skills that include the ability to send/receive email messages, post information to a database or spreadsheet, and perform basic word processing, bookkeeping, and/or data entry., • Proficient with a tablet or similar device for daily tasks., • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos., • Ability to write correspondence and fill out completed spreadsheets., • Ability to speak Spanish is highly preferred, but not required., • Ability to add, subtract, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals., • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions., • Ability to deal with problems involving issues that may arrive in the day to day operations. Physical Demands & Work Environment While performing the duties of the job, the employee is: • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear., • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms., • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell., • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds., • May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles,, and outside weather conditions., • May be exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration., • The noise level in the work environment may become loud.
