General Job Description Under the direction of the Welding Group Leader or Supervisor, the Welder works from customer drawings and a traveler to fabricate and weld components to produce the highest quality products at the lowest cost, while meeting departmental performance standards, customer specifications and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures. A Class A Welder is capable of performing all aspects of welding. Can weld any type of project while consistently meeting or exceeding cycle times. Have the ability to fabricate from prints without the aide of fixtures. Able to do prototypes while also working with engineering to develop fixtures. Capable of being certified. Requires little to no supervisor and has the ability to interpret blueprints and understands weld symbols at an advanced level. JOB SUMMARY: The R&D Lab Technician will perform various tasks that support mixing process and mechanical testing, including testing that supports new Product Development, Consulting Services, Order Support, R&D Support, and Engineering Support. The technician must be able to take instructions in written form and create the test setups using existing facilities and equipment. In some cases, the technician will be asked to formulate a plan to create a new test setup, which includes developing a list of materials required to fabricate the test setup. The technician will often be asked to run the test and log data using existing computerized data acquisition software and supply a written report. Most testing will also include using lab testing equipment. Interpersonal skills, both within the R&D group and with external groups such as engineering and manufacturing, are a must.
