Job Description See St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church seeks a trustworthy, reliable, hard-working Facilities Manager, full-time, to: maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the church’s building and grounds; manage technological pieces of facilities functions; perform maintenance and repairs; make improvements to buildings and ground; collaborate with church leadership; work with vendors when necessary; do daily set-up and teardown of spaces for programs/events; and, serve people joyfully. Responsibilities: Building Maintenance & Operations • Act as the primary staff contact person for all issues related to the facility and grounds: scheduling, maintenance, cleaning, upkeep, and use of systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, custodial, and fire & security., • Conduct regular facility inspections to identify issues, safety concerns, and areas for improvement, • Perform and manage routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on all building systems including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical, • Implement preventative maintenance schedules to ensure efficient operation of equipment and systems, • Monitor and maintain building automation systems and programs., • Program thermostats, ensuring energy efficiency and good stewardship., • Respond to maintenance requests promptly and professionally. Vendor & Contractor Management • Coordinate contractors and vendors for specialized repairs, installations, or inspections, • Oversee contracted work as it’s being done and inspect for accuracy prior to payment of contracted work, • Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain emergency preparedness plans, • Ensure all work complies with church policies, building codes, and safety standards including ADA compliance, fire, police and health inspectors, • Setup and teardown for church services, events, and ministry activities as required, • Coordinate and support facility, A/V, and tech, • Keep the facility clean, attractive, safe and well-maintained, inside and out, including grounds, • Support cleaning: make sure trash and recycling are emptied, assist in ensuring church buildings and grounds are free of debris/litter, and keep entrances clear of leaves, sand, dirt, etc.; assure bathrooms and kitchen areas are clean and supplied. Work with cleaning crew to assure church is clean and well prepared for services and events., • Maintain clean, organized mechanical rooms, work areas, and storage spaces, • Coordinate projects related to facilities and grounds with staff, lay leaders, volunteers, and/or community., • Collaborate with Jr. Warden in order to submit an annual program budget for to the Finance Committee for approval by the Vestry., • Attend weekly staff meetings, staff retreats, annual parish meeting, and monthly Administrative Commission meetings, • Serve as primary contact for facility related emergencies, which may require evening and weekend calls - work to resolve urgent facility-related matters., • Walk through facilities frequently, opening and closing the building daily; arming and disarming the security system., • Setting up and breaking down and moving furniture, equipment, signage for meetings and events, • Replace light bulbs, ballasts, filters, etc; paint and install wall hangings, furniture, etc., and other facilities-related work as needed., • Consult with tenants and Parish Administrator regarding building needs., • Identify maintenance or repair problems, conduct minor repairs as needed. Experience & Qualifications: • 3+ years of experience in building maintenance, facilities work, or a related trade, • General knowledge of building maintenance, HVAC, general carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and custodial skills. Knowledge of AV, internet, telecom and related technology a plus., • Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and technical diagrams and comfortable with basic electronic communication and computer software, • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently and also strong organizational skills, including working with teams of volunteers and staff., • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, carrying equipment, and extended walking, • Excellent communication skills and a professional, people and service-oriented approach, • Collaborate well with others; honest, dependable, organized, and dedicated, • Willingness to submit to a background check, and to be trained in Safeguarding God’s Children and Safeguarding God’s People (Diocesan required training).
