Position Overview The Concrete Operations Director is responsible for the overall planning, leadership, execution, and growth of Martin Commercial LLC’s concrete operations. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, profitably, and to the highest quality standards while also playing an active role in selling new business and expanding client relationships. As a key member of the leadership team, this position aligns people, processes, and performance across all projects and regions while supporting the company’s strategic growth initiatives. The Director of Operations will drive operational excellence, mentor teams, strengthen field execution, and partner closely with executive leadership to win work and scale the business. Key Responsibilities Operations & Leadership • Provide strategic oversight of all projects from preconstruction through closeout., • Lead, mentor, and develop project management and field leadership teams, building a strong internal talent pipeline., • Provide daily operational management and strategic direction across multiple projects and teams., • Coordinate internal and external resources to meet schedules, budgets, and performance goals., • Ensure effective planning and execution of schedules, budgets, manpower, equipment, and logistics., • Establish, implement, and continuously improve operational standards, best practices, and workflows., • Serve as the escalation point for operational issues impacting safety, schedule, quality, or client satisfaction., • Champion a proactive safety culture with zero tolerance for unsafe behavior., • Ensure quality standards meet client expectations, specifications, and industry requirements (ACI, ASTM, etc.)., • Lead weekly and monthly operational meetings to drive accountability and performance alignment., • Review construction contracts and oversee the contract change and change order process., • Partner with executive leadership on project-level budgets and ongoing financial performance. Business Development & Sales • Actively sell new concrete work and expand Martin Commercial LLC’s project portfolio., • Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, owners, developers, and key industry partners., • Support and lead business development efforts by identifying opportunities, pursuing new clients, and strengthening repeat business., • Collaborate with estimating and preconstruction teams to develop competitive bids, validate means and methods, and ensure schedule and staffing feasibility., • Represent Martin Commercial LLC professionally in client meetings, presentations, and industry events. Field Engagement • Routinely visit project sites, working directly with local leaders and field teams to ensure alignment and execution. Qualifications • 10+ years of experience in concrete subcontracting, heavy civil construction, or self-perform construction operations., • Proven success managing large project portfolios while contributing to business development and sales growth., • Strong technical understanding of concrete means and methods, formwork systems, mix designs, scheduling, and cost control., • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams., • Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build trust and win work., • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and risk management skills., • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
