Step 5 Purpose The job of Custodian II is done for the purpose of providing an operational support to the Plant Manager or Cafeteria Manager, to ensure an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for the administration, staff, community and students. Qualifications • High School Diploma or General Educational Development diploma (GED)., • Must possess and maintain a Department of Public Safety (DPS) Identity Verified Print (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card., • Ability to maintain appropriate interpersonal relations with students, parents, and other staff of the district., • Ability to organize/schedule own work and prioritize work based on the Districts' need and level of urgency., • Must be at least 18 years of age., • Proficient in the use of manual and power tools/equipment., • Ability to maintain records and equipment., • Knowledge of the use of personal protection equipment (PPE)., • Ability to receive direction on projects/tasks as designated., • Forklift certified., • Bilingual in English and Spanish., • Assists in sanitation control, security, and safety hazards for ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition and/or identifying necessary repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc., • Clean sidewalks, remove gum and pick up trash and debris around the exterior of the buildings campus wide for maintaining a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment., • Clean the outside lunch patio area to include tables and chairs/benches before, during and after each meal service as assigned for maintaining a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment., • Empty exterior trash containers campus wide. Clean and sanitize the exterior surface. Replace liners as needed., • Empty all interior trashcans in gym lobby, restrooms, and cafeteria patio restrooms. Replace liners as needed., • Clean interior gym bleachers. Extend bleachers to pick up trash and sweep as necessary., • Interior and exterior graffiti will be noted/reported to the Plant Manager. Remove graffiti as needed., • Power wash concrete patio area or on an as needed basis., • Clean and sanitize toilets, urinals, sinks, all restroom fixtures, clean mirrors and wipe all counters., • Scrub restroom floors with proper equipment., • Machine scrub hard surface floors using germicidal detergent., • Dust mop all hard surface floors with treated dust mop., • Mop all stains and spills in gym area., • Spot clean all horizontal and vertical surfaces and doors to remove fingerprints, smudges, and stains., • Clean and sanitize all drinking fountains., • Maintain and replenish paper towel, soap and toilet paper dispensers in restrooms as needed., • Clean emergency spills in classrooms, locker rooms and other areas., • As needed, provides tables and chairs for meetings, classroom activities and special events., • Minimal maintenance and minimal groundskeeper duties to include operating line trimmer, hand blower, grass edger, power washer, paint striper, mowing equipment, and assist in lining athletic fields are at the discretion of the site Facility Manager. The District will provide training to operate the equipment., • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
