Job Description Job Title: Senior HVAC Service Technician Job Description The HVAC Service Technician will service, repair, and maintain a wide range of commercial HVAC systems throughout the Los Angeles Basin. This role requires a technician who can work independently in the field, perform troubleshooting, and deliver professional, safety-focused service to commercial clients. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with overtime available as needed, and requires residence within approximately 25 miles of Glendale, CA. Responsibilities • Perform a full range of HVAC repairs, including split condensing unit repair and replacement, leak detection, and system maintenance on commercial equipment., • Service and maintain self-contained units, VRF systems, heat pumps, and control systems to ensure reliable performance., • Work on commercial HVAC systems such as rooftop units, air handling units, hydronic systems, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and VAV boxes., • Conduct general and preventive maintenance to maximize system longevity, efficiency, and reliability., • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, including complex electrical problems involving low-voltage controls and high-voltage power., • Perform system startups and ensure proper operation of VRF and other commercial HVAC systems., • Use ServiceTitan software to accurately document all service work, including diagnostics, repairs, parts used, and recommendations, using a company-provided tablet and phone., • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, dispatch, and internal team members regarding work performed, system status, and any follow-up needs., • Drive a company van safely to job sites across the Los Angeles Basin and maintain safe parking practices at all locations., • Work independently in the field the majority of the time while following company safety policies, procedures, and compliance requirements., • Use personal hand tools and PPE to perform all tasks safely and efficiently., • Minimum of 5 years of HVAC field experience, preferably in commercial service environments., • Universal EPA Certification for handling refrigerants., • Completion of HVAC trade school or relevant college coursework., • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems, including cooling towers, chillers, pumps, air handling systems, ductwork, VAV systems, and boilers., • Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, including low-voltage controls and high-voltage power., • Hands-on experience with VRF systems, including service and startup., • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical information related to HVAC systems and controls., • Valid driver’s license., • Ability to work independently in the field and also collaborate effectively as part of a team when needed., • Fluency in spoken and written English for effective communication and documentation., • Ability to pass required drug screening and physical exam., • Experience using ServiceTitan or similar field service management software for work orders and documentation., • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for complex HVAC systems., • Background in field service work, including repair, preventive maintenance, and installation of HVAC equipment., • Nice-to-have experience in additional electrical work related to HVAC systems., • Comfort working alone in the field for the majority of the workday., • Strong customer service skills and the ability to represent the company professionally at client sites., • Detail-oriented approach to documentation, safety practices, and equipment care. Work Environment This is a field-based role serving commercial clients across the Los Angeles Basin, including the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, Alhambra, San Marino, and nearby coastal areas. The technician will typically work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with overtime as needed. You will work alone approximately 95% of the time, traveling between job sites in a company-provided van. A company cell phone and tablet are provided, and ServiceTitan is used for all work order and documentation processes. The position involves working on rooftops, mechanical rooms, and various commercial facilities, requiring the regular use of personal hand tools and PPE. The environment emphasizes safety, compliance with driving and drug/physical standards, and professional appearance in a client-facing setting.
