Job DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Disbursement Accountant EMPLOYER: Orthopaedic Center of Illinois (OCI) DEPARTMENT: Finance/Accounting REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) EFFECTIVE DATE: May 1, 2025 SUMMARY: This position is responsible for assisting in all phases of accounting management including financial operations of a multi-provider physician office by overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, preparing financial statements, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting audit processes. This role works closely with clinical and administrative leaders to maintain accurate financial data and provide insights that support operational decisions. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assists with management of accounting functions including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, and month-end/year-end closing processes., • Oversees implementation of accounting systems, policies, and procedures., • Reviews journal entries., • Maintains, reconciles, and administrates general ledger accounts including but not limited to accounts receivable, inventory, and accounts payable., • Coordinates and ensures accuracy and timeliness of internal and external financial reporting., • Assists with annual 401K audit., • Prepares budgets and forecasts; participates in business planning and analyses., • Reviews bank reconciliations., • Assures accurate and timely monthly closing; assists with preparation of monthly financial statements., • Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies., • Reviews the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances., • Utilizes accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records., • Assists with special projects as required., • Performs other related duties as assigned by management., • Maintain strong internal controls and participate in process improvements., • Collaborate with billing and revenue cycle teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition and tracking., • Analyze physician productivity, payer mix, and financial KPIs to support practice management. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or relevant field., • Two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience., • Healthcare or physician office experience., • Knowledge of medical billing, payer reimbursement models, and healthcare financial reporting., • Computer skills required: Accounting Software; Database Software; Payroll Systems; Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word); Electronic Mail Software (Outlook); Presentation software (PowerPoint); and EHR/PM systems., • Other skills required:, • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations., • Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method., • Ability to work with all levels of management., • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow., • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
