Mercer Island
Opened in 2022, this purpose-built facility was designed to support efficient, same-day care with strong diagnostic capability, smooth patient flow, and an experienced technical team that truly understands the pace of urgent care. The hospital operates with a “say yes” philosophy while maintaining high clinical standards, making it an excellent environment for a Medical Director who enjoys balancing leadership with hands-on clinical practice. You’ll inherit a stable team of two DVMs (each with several years of experience), supported by a licensed technician, five assistants, a dedicated scribe service, and a hospital director who collaborates closely on culture, workflow, and team development. With active hiring for additional support staff and a third DVM planned for the new year, this is a hospital genuinely committed to smart, sustainable growth. You’ll have access to a fully equipped facility, including four exam rooms, a sterile surgical suite, a dedicated dental area with digital dental radiography, fast-scan ultrasound, two fully stocked anesthetic carts, full in-house labs, and modern surgical equipment, including a heated table and updated monitoring systems. Surgeries are currently performed two days per week with the option to increase as caseload continues to expand. This role offers an ideal mix of clinical autonomy, mentorship, and leadership impact. You’ll guide medical standards, coach associate DVMs through monthly one-on-ones, collaborate with the hospital director on culture and operations, and still retain meaningful time on the floor practicing quality medicine, all with no after-hours or overnight responsibilities and no weekends required at all. A highly competitive salary range, leadership stipend, quarterly performance incentives, sign-on/relocation support, and flexible scheduling options (ideally 4 days/week) ensure you’re supported both personally and professionally.
