You must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this position. \n\n Why You Should Apply: \n\n\n\t • Part Time 2x12s, day/night shift rotations, EOW and Holiday\n, • 1st Acute Med/Surg RN Part Time (2x12s)\n, • Rotational D/E/N/W/Holidays\n, • No RTO on holidays\n\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\n, • NYS RN Licensure Required\n, • BLS certification required\n, • ACLS certification required\n, • One (1) Year Experience serving in Med/Surg Environment as a Registered Nurse\n\n\nPosition Overview\n\n, • The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families\n, • The RN assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient's episode\n, • The Med/Surg RN develops specialized skill in the area of cardiac care including telemetry monitoring\n, • The RN is accountable for patient family education to assist the patient and family in understanding self care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing\n, • Promotes comfort and provides emotional support in a healing environment\n\n\nCare Delivery Responsibilities\n\n, • Applies nursing knowledge and skill in delivery of care by assessing patient/family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness (being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do), and analyzing data/information obtained through direct observation and assessment, technology, or health team communication\n, • Creates a developmentally and age appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address the nature and scope of the health problems identified\n, • In collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and health care team members, sets goals and monitors the patient's progress\n, • The RN adjusts the plan based on patient response or change in condition/reprioritization of needs\n\n\nQuality and Professional Development\n\n, • Promotes, advocates for and protects the health, safety and rights of the patient\n, • Systematically evaluates quality and effectiveness of Nursing Practice, uses the results of Quality Improvement activities to initiate changes in individual nursing practice and to influence care delivery\n, • Engages in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths and areas in which professional development would be beneficial and takes accountability to increase knowledge and enhance skill\n, • Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems\n, • Demonstrates skill in application of nursing interventions including medication administration\n\n\nPatient and Family Education\n\n, • Motivates the patient/family by teaching them what is needed to continue care and healing at home\n, • Assesses the patient/family learning styles and structures the sessions to maximize understanding\n, • Seeks "teachable" moments during the care delivery process to emphasize pertinent information\n, • Asks questions to evaluate retention of key points in the self care process\n, • Provides tools and information to assist the patient family after discharge\n, • Documents the education provided and the patient/family response to the education\n\n\nTeam Collaboration and Leadership\n\n, • Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to promote members of the team working together to accomplish the best possible patient outcome\n, • Teaches others as appropriate and delegates tasks and interventions consistent with the individual's education, training, and scope of practice\n, • Complies with infection prevention strategies and maintains competencies required to care for the specific population in the area assigned\n, • Reports potential safety risks and inappropriate/questionable practices\n, • Promotes leadership awareness and fosters positive change\n, • Conducts rounds per protocol and uses tools and equipment needed to keep the patient/family informed, engaged, and safe\n\n\nPatient-Centered Care Philosophy\n\n, • Nursing practice reflects the importance of making a meaningful connection with patient/family\n, • Seeks to develop a helping, trusting, and caring relationship by being present in the moment of interaction\n, • Listens, communicates, engages, and anticipates the patient/family needs\n, • Strives to understand what is most important to the patient/family, acknowledging that the patient and family are the central focus of all care and services\n, • Embraces the importance of creating a Healing Environment as a key element of professional nursing practice\n Alerion Healthcare Job ID #1879.
