Job details Domain Production Job field / Job profile Quality - Operations quality assurance Job title Chief Inspector & Quality Control Manager Employment type Permanent Professional category Professional, Engineer & Manager Part time / Full time Full-time Job description Job Summary: The Chief Inspector & Quality Control Manager is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, airworthiness, and product conformity of all maintenance, repair, overhaul, and manufacturing activities conducted under FAA Part 21 and Part 145, AS9100, and DoD contract requirements. This leadership role manages inspection personnel, oversees quality control processes, ensures conformity to the Repair Station and Quality Control Manuals, and acts as the primary regulatory liaison to the FAA, DCMA, and customer quality representatives. The position is accountable for final product release, issuing airworthiness approvals, and maintaining the integrity of the Quality Management System (QMS). Essential Job Functions • Serve as the Chief Inspector of the FAA Part 145 Repair Station, • Maintain compliance with applicable standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100/AS9110, FAA Part 21/145, EASA, CAAC, UKCAA or customer-specific quality requirements., • Maintain Repair Station & Quality Control Manuals, Training Program, and ensure adherence to procedures., • Oversee issuance of FAA Form 8130-3, Form Ones, etc., Certificates of Conformance, and release documentation for DoD and military contracts., • Manage, supervise, and mentor inspection personnel., • Review and approve inspection reports, test documentation, and product release records., • Ensure all inspections are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and company procedures., • Ensure inspection personnel are properly trained, qualified, and authorized., • Serve as the final authority for product acceptance and nonconformance disposition., • Manage internal and external audits; coordinate corrective actions and drive closure., • Uphold calibration and control of inspection tools, gauges, and test equipment., • Coordinate closely with production, engineering, supply chain, and program management teams to resolve quality issues., • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of inspectors, quality technicians, and quality engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, initiative, and regulatory compliance., • Establish performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and implement development plans and succession planning for key inspection leadership roles., • Manage daily quality briefings, assign work priorities, and ensure appropriate resource allocation to support production and program schedules., • Manage and facilitate training and qualification programs for inspection personnel., • Prepare and present quality performance metrics, compliance status, and improvement plans to leadership., • Oversee inspection and auditing of incoming materials from suppliers., • Liaise with customer quality representatives and regulatory authorities as required., • Support supplier qualification and performance improvement initiatives., • Ensure compliance with DoD quality clauses (AS9100, AS9110, AS9145, DFARS, MIL-SPECs). Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position and occasionally move about the office and production floor. Constantly operates and use a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copier/printer. The ability to observe, identify and assess details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds across office for various needs. Work Environment: The work environment is primarily performed on the manufacturing floor with some office as well. Noise level in the office is typically quiet while the noise level on the manufacturing floor may rarely require noise protection. • Experience within aerospace industry required. Candidate skills & requirements • Coordinate inspections with DCMA (Defense Contract Management Agency) representatives., • Lead Government Source Inspection (GSI) activities and Quality Assurance Letters of Delegation, • Develop and implement quality control strategies aligned with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations., • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance quality performance., • Lead Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) teams to prevent quality escapes and improve long-term reliability., • Other responsibilities as directed by supervisor Required Competencies: Education/Experience: • Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered., • Minimum 5 years of quality control and inspection experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role., • Experience in industry-specific compliance standards - e.g., aerospace: AS9100, FAA/EASA regulations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Experience operating within a certified FAA Part 145 Repair Station environment, • Expert knowledge of 14 CFR Part 21 and Part 145., • Strong understanding of AS9100, AS9110, ISO 9001, and DFARS requirements., • Ability to read and interpret technical data, drawings, manuals, and service bulletins., • Proficiency in nonconformance management (NCR/MRB), CAPA, and QMS software tools., • Strong leadership, communication, auditing, and decision-making skills., • Strong knowledge of inspection methods, quality systems, and regulatory requirements., • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents., • Experience with NCR, MRB, CAPA, and QA software tools., • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills., • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication abilities., • SAP experience a plus, • Spanish fluency a plus Leadership Skills / Management Skills / Personal Skills • Strong understanding of AS9100, AS9110, ISO 9001, and DFARS requirements., • Ability to read and interpret technical data, drawings, manuals, and service bulletins., • Proficiency in nonconformance management (NCR/MRB), CAPA, and QMS software tools., • Strong leadership, communication, auditing, and decision-making skills.
