Director of FP&A | DG Solar & Storage IPP | NYC The Company: We have partnered with a leading distributed generation solar & storage developer, owner, and operator, in their search for a Director of FP&A. Founded over a decade ago, with private-equity backing, they manage a 450+ MW portfolio across the U.S., with a focus on commercial, industrial, and community solar projects. The company is dedicated to advancing the clean energy transition through responsible investment and long-term partnerships. The Role: The Director of FP&A will lead their corporate and asset-level financial planning, forecasting, and performance reporting, ensuring that financial insights drive strategic decision-making across the organization. This senior leadership role will be responsible for scaling the FP&A function to meet the demands of a rapidly expanding portfolio, integrating development pipeline forecasts into company-wide financial models, managing strategic cash flow planning, and preparing high-impact reporting for executives and the Board of Directors. Key Responsibilities: • Organize planning process with executive management team and drive integration of strategy, setting of performance targets, and development of operating and financial plans,, • Manage and prioritize issues and communicate mitigating actions with executive management,, • Maintains an overall culture of performance commitment, proactively identifying and implementing programs to achieve targets, operating plans, leading practices and standards,, • Facilitate execution of performance management framework with leadership, other departments and business units,, • Develop FP&A policies, procedures and processes; maintain and assist in the interpretation of FP&A policies, procedures and processes,, • Lead and expand the FP&A function to match the Company’s rapid growth, ensuring systems, processes, and team capabilities are optimized for scale,, • Establish FP&A best practices and implement improvements to forecasting, reporting, and analytical capabilities,, • Oversee the annual budget process, aligning corporate and departmental budgets with strategic objectives,, • Develop and maintain multi-year corporate and project-level forecasts, integrating project development pipeline data into financial projections,, • Create and refine driver-based forecasting models that support decision-making in development, operations, and capital markets,, • Lead monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including variance analysis, KPIs, and actionable recommendations for the executive team and Board of Directors,, • Compare actual performance to underwriting assumptions for operating assets, identifying risks, opportunities, and optimization strategies,, • Oversee strategic cash flow forecasting and liquidity management in coordination with the CFO and Treasury,, • Assess capital requirements for development and acquisition opportunities, ensuring alignment with financing strategy,, • Provide financial insight into funding structures, market conditions, and risk mitigation strategies,, • Collaborate with Development, Asset Management, and Project Finance teams to align project economics with corporate financial objectives,, • Support M&A and capital markets activity through scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, and due diligence. Requirements: • 8–12+ years of progressive FP&A or corporate finance experience, ideally within renewable energy or infrastructure,, • Strong understanding of C&I solar project economics, PPAs, tax equity, and debt financing structures,, • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing finance teams,, • Advanced financial modeling skills; experience with BI and ERP tools such as Power BI, Adaptive Insights, or NetSuite,, • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex analyses into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders,, • Track record of influencing strategic decisions at the executive and Board level,, • Ability to interface and interact with private equity sponsor personnel including at Board and deal team level., • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CFA strongly preferred).
