Job Summary: The Packager/Packer is responsible for ensuring that everything is in order prior to shipping and supports production and sanitary procedures. Supervisory Responsibilities: Not Applicable for this position Schedule: Second Shift: Monday through Friday 3:30pm - finish production (including occasional Saturday's) Duties/Responsibilities: • Ensures product protection by checking package integrity for good seals, proper price, code date, tape color, and product quality according to standard procedures., • Works in a team to pack product by assembling boxes, taking product off conveyor line, taping boxes, and placing on skid, and pull sealed cases off automated packaging lines, • Ensures the product is free from contamination by following rules of good manufacturing practices for disease control, personal practices, and uniform policy, • Stack sealed cases on skids according to staking procedures under pallet pattern, • Recognizes problems, alerts machine operator/mechanics according to standard procedures, • Prepares cases for use on the next shift by labeling information on the side of the box to include brand name, quantity, weight, and product type, • Maintains communication with other departments, employees, and management to notify them of any issues that may restrict the efficiency of production, • Follows SOP, SSOP, GMP, and general safety policies, • Ability to calculate basic math and read, • High school diploma or equivalent, • Must be able to lift 50lbs, • Ability to be on your feet for an 8-hour shift, • Ability to climb on ladders and maneuver through equipment, • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays Lifeway Foods, Inc. is a growing Chicago-based beverage manufacturer with over 25 years of experience.
