Job Description We are currently hiring for the 2nd Shift Production Packagers in our Alsip, IL plant. As a Production Packager, you can expect to work the following: Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Production Packager to join our team. This position is responsible for reviewing work orders, performing final quality checks, and packaging products according to order-specific instructions. The role requires the ability to operate a sit-down forklift and jib crane to ensure the safe and efficient completion of packaging tasks. Key Responsibilities: • Review the production schedule and work orders to determine the next jobs to be processed on the banding line and understand the specific requirements for each job., • Identify and report any inaccuracies or issues in the schedule or work order to management., • Communicate job requirements to other packaging team members when items arrive at the banding line., • Check incoming coils for observable defects and ensure compliance with customer requirements. Report any deficiencies to the department head or team leader., • Interrupt operation when defects are discovered and obtain approval from management to proceed with corrections., • Coordinate banding and packaging activities to maintain workflow and minimize bottlenecks., • Operate various equipment, including the downlayer, automatic bander, sit-down forklift, and jib crane, as necessary., • Prepare pallets according to customer packaging specifications, ensuring correct banding and proper placement of coils and wooden separators., • Ensure a safe operating environment by observing team members and equipment. Report any safety issues and assist in addressing unsafe conditions., • Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area., • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and meet shipping deadlines., • Ability to operate a sit-down forklift and jib crane., • Knowledge of packaging materials and techniques, including proper palletizing and banding methods., • Attention to detail to identify defects and ensure compliance with customer specifications., • Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and reporting issues., • Safety-conscious with the ability to recognize and address potential hazards., • Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods., • Ability to lift and move heavy items up to 50 lbs., • Ability to operate machinery and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Job Description Job Title: Production Worker Job Description Join our dynamic team as a Production Worker, where you will play a critical role in operating and maintaining packaging machinery to ensure the efficient processing of products. You will be responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting machines, ensuring quality control, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Responsibilities • Operate and maintain packaging machinery including auto packager, cutter, and filler., • Set up machinery and adjust hoses, blades, and film rolls., • Manage computer systems for setting orders and runs., • Unclog jams and ensure smooth machine operations., • Conduct quality checks on products for defects., • Connect hoses to tankers and fillers, and climb ladders to access machinery., • At least 1 year of experience with GMP, packaging, and manufacturing., • Ability to lift 40 lbs. individually., • Bilingual abilities. Job Summary: The Packager/Packer is responsible for ensuring that everything is in order prior to shipping and supports production and sanitary procedures. Supervisory Responsibilities: Not Applicable for this position Schedule: Second Shift: Monday through Friday 3:30pm - finish production (including occasional Saturday's) Duties/Responsibilities: • Ensures product protection by checking package integrity for good seals, proper price, code date, tape color, and product quality according to standard procedures., • Works in a team to pack product by assembling boxes, taking product off conveyor line, taping boxes, and placing on skid, and pull sealed cases off automated packaging lines, • Ensures the product is free from contamination by following rules of good manufacturing practices for disease control, personal practices, and uniform policy, • Stack sealed cases on skids according to staking procedures under pallet pattern, • Recognizes problems, alerts machine operator/mechanics according to standard procedures, • Prepares cases for use on the next shift by labeling information on the side of the box to include brand name, quantity, weight, and product type, • Maintains communication with other departments, employees, and management to notify them of any issues that may restrict the efficiency of production, • Follows SOP, SSOP, GMP, and general safety policies, • Ability to calculate basic math and read, • High school diploma or equivalent, • Must be able to lift 50lbs, • Ability to be on your feet for an 8-hour shift, • Ability to climb on ladders and maneuver through equipment, • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays Lifeway Foods, Inc. is a growing Chicago-based beverage manufacturer with over 25 years of experience.
