Job Information The HSE Director is responsible for leading and shaping the strategic approach to Health, Safety, and Environmental programs at FloWorks. This role drives a culture of continuous improvement and safety excellence across all company operations. Reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and Supply Chain. Key Responsibilities • Strategic leadership of FloWorks various Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives such that FloWorks maintains and builds upon its reputation as proactive best-in-class corporate citizens., • Develop FloWorks Environmental & Safety mission, policies, and respective goals/objectives., • Acts as the key representative for FloWorks in engagements with regulatory agencies, customers, suppliers, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and build strong partnerships., • Develop the overall strategy of continuous improvement for FloWorks Health, Safety, and Environmental Initiatives to establish a culture of health and safety., • Provide technical expertise, strategic leadership, and support for all of FloWorks’ various branches., • Enforces compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements., • Create and maintain program management systems to ensure that FloWorks various Health, Safety, and Environmental Health certifications, accreditations, and compliance efforts are developed and continuously improved. (Could include Registrar certifications, ISO-14001, OSHA/MIOSHA Voluntary Protection Programs, etc...)., • Develops and delivers comprehensive safety programs, including new hire orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material handling, and the use of personal protective equipment, • Understand the chemicals and any/all potential safety and environmental hazards used/present at all FloWorks Sites, take steps to reduce the use of problematic chemicals and to mitigate any potential safety and environmental health hazards., • Assist with various communications to ensure the development of strategic Environmental Health & Safety communiqués for use with internal and external customers., • Develop systematic processes to collect and analyze accident data, generate required reports, and drive targeted safety programs focused on preventing workplace accidents and promoting long-term employee well-being, • Site Evaluations:, • Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law, • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention, • Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions, • Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims, • Performs additional responsibilities as requested Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)., • Minimum of 8–10 years of HSE leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a warehouse, logistics, distribution, or industrial environment., • Demonstrated success in leading HSE programs across geographically dispersed sites, aligning local execution with corporate safety strategy and regulatory requirements., • Experience working with forklift operations, racking systems, material handling equipment, and other distribution-specific hazards., • Proven ability to analyze and interpret safety and incident data at a strategic level, produce clear, executive-ready reports, identify trends, and lead data-informed initiatives., • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to influence, align, and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization, including operations, HR, and executive leadership—to drive enterprise-wide HSE initiatives., • Ability to travel 25–45% to visit FloWorks facilities and support on-site safety initiatives. Physical Demands • Frequently required to stand, • Frequently required to walk, • Continually required to sit, • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity, • Occasionally balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl, • Continually required to talk or hear, • Continually utilize visual acuity to read technical information and/or use a keyboard, • Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items up to 25 pounds, • Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, • Occasionally exposure to outside weather conditions, • Occasionally loud noise (examples: shop tool noises, electric motors, moving mechanical equipment) Work Environment This role operates in a professional office environment with flexibility for hybrid work. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers are used. Occasional visits to warehouses or operational sites may be required.
