WHAT YOU'LL DO: The Donation Center Assistant supports the daily operations of Elica’s Resource Center, including the Community Closet and Food Pantry. The Donation Center is an integral part of the Elica Resource Center. This role combines inventory management, logistics, administrative tracking, and direct service to patients and community members. The position requires strongorganizational skills, customer service experience in a multicultural environment, attention to detail, and strict adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA requirements. The Donation Center Assistant plays an essential role in maintaining a welcoming, orderly, and compliant environment for all visitors while ensuring accurate documentation, proper handling of donations, and smooth coordination of distribution activities. The successful candidate will be willing and able to: Donation Center Operations • Participate in the daily operations of the Donation Center, including the Community Closet and Food Pantry., • Sort, organize, and restock donated clothing, food, and household items., • Greet visitors and patients in a respectful and welcoming manner., • Distribute items according to established rules and eligibility guidelines., • Demonstrate detailed knowledge of Donation Center rules and ensure visitors follow them., • Monitor and maintain donation areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and organization. 2. Inventory, Logs, and Documentation • Accurately record all distribution and inventory activities in Excel-based logs and tracking systems., • Maintain inventory accuracy and assist with periodic counts and audits., • Complete required donation and distribution documentation., • Ensure proper handling of sensitive information and compliance with HIPAA during all patient-facing interactions. 3. Logistics and Transportation • Complete work-related travel and assignments as required, using a personal vehicle., • Transport items back to the Donation Center and complete unloading, sorting, and storage., • Assist with loading and unloading food and donated items at distribution sites., • Mileage and travel expenses are reimbursed by the employer according to federal mileage rates. 4. Outreach and Events • Participate in outreach and community events, including occasional weekend events., • Support on-site and off-site distribution activities as assigned. 5. Daily Facility Support • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and order in the Donation Center and office areas as needed., • Work closely with Elica Health Centers, Resource Center, Social Care, CalAim teams staff to ensure smooth operations., • Follow all organizational policies and procedures, including timekeeping, breaks, and attendance requirements. Work Schedule • Standard shifts: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (may change depending on operational needs)., • Occasional weekend work required for outreach and special events., • Employees must be able to manage and monitor their time independently and accurately. Meal and rest breaks must be taken according to company policy. The successful candidate has: Education and Experience • High school diploma or equivalent required., • Minimum 2 years of experience in customer service, logistics, warehouse support, nonprofit operations, fundraising, development, or sales preferred., • Excellent verbal communication skills in English are required., • Bilingual or multilingual skills required., • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for logs, tracking, and documentation., • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace., • Strong customer service skills with a respectful and professional demeanor., • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multilingual environment., • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable., • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced setting., • Current and valid California driver’s license required., • Proof of personal vehicle and auto insurance required for use of personal vehicle during work hours., • If selected for an employment opportunity with Elica Health Centers, external hires must provide proof of immunizations (Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella & Tetanus), tuberculosis clearance, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination status* prior to their scheduled start date. Physical Requirements and Work Environment • The work environment includes an office (Donation Center located at 5735 Watt Avenue, North Highlands, CA 95660), warehouse-style spaces, field sites, and community locations., • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and use of hands., • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds., • Exposure to busy, sometimes noisy environments., • Regular interaction with individuals and families who may be experiencing crisis, illness, substance use, or housing instability., • Potential exposure to bio-hazardous materials and cleaning chemicals.
