Job Description Location: Southern California / Remote-Hybrid Compensation: Draw against commission + uncapped commission + milestone bonuses Job Type: Full-Time / Performance-Based Sales Role About Pacific Sands Pacific Sands Design & Engineering helps homeowners, property owners, designers, and building professionals turn project ideas into clear, permit-ready design and engineering plans. We provide residential design, architectural planning, construction documents, structural engineering, ADU plans, remodel plans, addition plans, new home design, lot development planning, and small commercial tenant improvement plans. We are not a general contractor and this is not a construction sales role. Our sales team sells professional design, architectural, planning, and engineering services. The Opportunity We are looking for a motivated, organized, and tech-savvy sales representative to help homeowners and property owners understand what they need to move their project forward. Most prospects come to us with an idea: an ADU, home addition, remodel, new home, structural change, or permit issue. Your job is to respond quickly, ask the right questions, explain our services clearly, guide the client through next steps, and help them move forward with Pacific Sands. This is a great fit for someone who can speak confidently with homeowners, understands or is eager to learn the design and permitting process, and enjoys consultative selling. What You’ll Sell You will be selling services such as: • Home design services, • Architectural design and planning services, • Residential construction documents, • Structural engineering services, • ADU plans, • Home addition plans, • Remodel plans, • New home design, • Garage conversions, • Permit-ready plan sets, • Small commercial tenant improvement plans, • Design selections and related planning services, • Construction administration services related to design and engineering support What You’ll Do • Respond quickly to inbound leads from platforms such as Thumbtack, Google, referrals, and other lead sources, • Speak with homeowners and property owners about their project goals, • Qualify leads based on project type, location, timeline, budget, and readiness, • Explain Pacific Sands’ design, architectural, and structural engineering services, • Help prospects understand the path from idea to plans, engineering, and permit submittal, • Conduct discovery calls by phone, video, and email, • Prepare and present proposals for qualified clients, • Follow up consistently with open leads and sent proposals, • Maintain accurate lead notes, project details, and next steps in the CRM, • Coordinate a clean handoff to the design and engineering team after a client signs, • Track daily activity, proposals, pipeline, and closed deals What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can combine sales discipline with a basic understanding of home design, architectural services, engineering, permitting, or residential project planning. You do not need to be an architect or engineer. However, you should be comfortable learning the language of residential projects and explaining the value of professional design and engineering services to homeowners. Required Qualifications • Sales, client service, estimating, design, real estate, architecture, engineering, or home services experience, • Strong phone, email, text, and video communication skills, • Comfortable speaking with homeowners about project goals, budgets, timelines, and next steps, • Highly organized and consistent with follow-up, • Comfortable with commission-based or performance-based compensation, • Tech-savvy and able to learn tools such as CRM software, Google Workspace, Thumbtack, proposal software, and AI tools, • Able to manage multiple leads and opportunities at once, • Professional, reliable, and client-facing Preferred Qualifications • Experience selling design, architecture, engineering, permitting, real estate, or professional services, • Familiarity with ADUs, additions, remodels, new homes, structural engineering, or residential plan sets, • Experience with Thumbtack, Houzz, Angi, Google Business Profile, or other lead platforms, • CRM experience such as HubSpot, Streak, Salesforce, or similar, • Experience presenting proposals live by phone or video, • Knowledge of Southern California residential project types, permitting, or homeowner needs Who This Role Is Not For This role is probably not the right fit if you: • Need a fixed salary with no performance component, • Are uncomfortable making follow-up calls, • Prefer to wait for clients to come back on their own, • Do not want to use a CRM or log activity, • Are not comfortable discussing budgets, timelines, and decision-making, • Are looking for a construction project management or contractor role Compensation This role is designed for someone who wants meaningful upside and is motivated by performance. Compensation includes: • Recoverable draw during ramp-up, • Commission on sold project value, • Uncapped earning potential, • Milestone bonuses for early performance targets, • Growth opportunity as Pacific Sands continues expanding its sales team High-performing reps will have the opportunity to earn strong monthly commission income by consistently closing design, architectural, and structural engineering projects.
