Job Description Job Title: Automotive Installer Technician Job Description This long-term role focuses on installing, wiring, and configuring specialized equipment in law enforcement vehicles at a customer site. You will perform factory-quality installations of electrical and mechanical components, ensuring all work meets high standards of safety, reliability, and appearance. The position offers a consistent Monday through Friday daytime schedule with optional overtime. Responsibilities • Disassemble and reinstall automotive interior trim without causing damage., • Remove and reinstall automotive body panels, bumper covers, and related exterior components without damage., • Perform factory-quality installations of perimeter lighting, lightbars, siren controllers, and speakers on law enforcement vehicles., • Read and interpret schematics, installation diagrams, and written instructions to complete accurate installations., • Install push bumpers, vehicle partitions, vehicle storage boxes, computer docking stations, and other police vehicle related equipment to a high standard of fit and finish., • Install and connect 12-volt DC powered equipment, including lighting, siren controllers, speakers, relays, controllers, computer equipment, and battery chargers., • Create and route DC electrical connections and wire harnesses in a clean, professional, and secure manner., • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete mechanical and electrical installation tasks., • Follow quality standards and installation procedures to ensure reliable operation of all installed equipment., • Communicate effectively with team members and site personnel to coordinate work and resolve installation issues., • Maintain a clean, organized work area and properly care for tools and equipment used on the job., • Ability to disassemble and reinstall automotive trim, body panels, and bumper covers without damage., • Proficiency in performing electrical installations on vehicles, including wiring and mounting 12-volt DC powered equipment., • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, installation diagrams, and written instructions., • Clear understanding of DC voltage principles and safe installation practices for 12-volt DC systems., • Clear understanding of DC electrical connections, connectors, and proper wire routing and harness fabrication., • Skilled in the use of common hand tools and power tools, including impact drivers, drills, sockets, wrenches, wire strippers, wire crimpers, and panel pullers., • Ability to install and configure communication and electronic systems in vehicles., • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent level of education., • Capability to stand and bend throughout the workday to perform installation tasks., • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as needed., • Strong self-motivation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision., • Ability to represent the company professionally at all levels within the customer organization., • Willingness and ability to work in a non-air-conditioned and/or outdoor environment as required., • Valid U.S. driver’s license with a reasonably clean driving record for the past five years., • Preferably two (2) or more years of experience working with electronics and/or electrical equipment., • Experience with vehicle upfitting, automotive electrical systems, or similar installation work., • Preferred knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) test equipment, including watt meters and connector types and usage., • Experience with communication systems and radio repair is beneficial., • Familiarity with reading blueprints and technical drawings related to electrical and mechanical installations., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to performing clean, professional installations. Work Environment This position is based on-site at a law enforcement customer facility and involves hands-on work in and around vehicles. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with optional overtime as workload requires. You will work primarily in a shop or garage setting that may not be air-conditioned and can include outdoor tasks depending on vehicle location. The role is physically active, requiring frequent standing, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and maneuvering in and around vehicles. You will regularly use impact drivers, drills, sockets, wrenches, wire strippers, crimpers, panel pullers, and other common automotive and electrical tools; if a company-provided tool breaks, the company will cover replacement. The environment emphasizes safety, adherence to site rules, and professional conduct while working within a secure law enforcement facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of TAMPA, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
