The incumbent will perform miscellaneous tasks, including phlebotomy, transporting patients, clerical, and "order entry" duties. The incumbent obtains test results for use by the primary care provider, initiating CPR when indicated, answering telephones, and directing telephone calls; observing safety practices for the benefit of patients, staff, and visitors; cleaning, and following isolation procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Depending on the area of assignment, an incumbent may not be required to perform some of the duties listed below): • Performs a range of diagnostic support duties that include age-specific patient assessment to draw blood specimens from inpatient and outpatient patients., • Ensures that blood samples drawn are in the proper tube, labeled correctly, and properly identified., • Makes gross and subtle visual observations of the patient's condition, taking all necessary precautions against infection and adverse reactions of patients., • Provide education to patients on specimen collection procedures., • Perform finger sticks for lab studies utilizing appropriate aseptic techniques., • Performs venipuncture to obtain lab specimens according to provider orders on an assigned basis utilizing the appropriate aseptic technique., • Correctly labels specimens with the time and the place obtained.
