Job Description POSITION OVERVIEW We seek to grow the number of outstanding educators in our schools through the Baker Teaching Fellowship program, named after KIPP Jacksonville’s founding board chairman, John D. Baker II. The Fellowship provides focused development, support, and structure to individuals launching a career in urban public education. This program is ideal for those graduating from an education preparation program, an alternative certification program, or for those who have passed a Florida subject area certification exam. Under the direction of our fellowship manager and school leaders, fellows are placed as co-teachers during their fellowship year and are certified teachers in our classrooms. As certified educators, fellows are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing our curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader. The Fellowship model allows fellows to co-teach in their fellowship year with a gradual release model. Fellows are placed strategically in one grade level and have meaningful ‘at-bats’ at instructional practices, whole and small group instruction, and managing a classroom.
